kevsh - Anyway you slice it, the canvas did in a fraction of a second what Cain couldn't in 9 rounds of beating: Finish Junior.

Haha, nice one.

Blazing Knees - ARe you guys saying that JDS quit?
I am. Look at how it ends. He's kneeling and then just curls into a ball and as soon as it's over, he sits back up.

Dude had enough. He wasn't out and if he had Sanchez's drive, he'd have popped back up. Phone Post 3.0

Closest thing we'll ever get to a stone cold stunner in a title fight

Exactly. You can see Junior just slump when Cain popped out of the choke, and when he felt him on him he just turtled up, having nothing left to give. Phone Post

Agreed. But then again, who other than Diego Sanchez would not have broken mentally in this situation. 99% of fighters would have broken long before that moment.

yeah, after 20 mins of getting beaten, I would mentally gas too. JDS gave all that HE had to give, till he didn't have anymore and he just lost the fight that's all.

You my friend is a fucking troll Cain beat day ass again and jds gave up! Bottom of that ladder he goes! <img alt="Phone Post" border="0" src="/images/phone/droid.png" style="vertical-align:middle;" /></blockquote>

First of all I was being (mostly) sarcastic but I'll play along. JDS took what 400+ shots over the two fights, his face a total mess, could've thrown in the towel after at least 6-7 rounds and there he was in  the 5th round, exhausted and he was trying to lock in a choke.

So, let me get this straight, he's still firing back, still game, goes for a choke, they fall down and Junior suddenly decides "gee, now I give up".

You sir, are the troll. Junior gave up, please, try harder.

Jimmy Rustler -  Goin for that guillotine at the end... he landed on his head.

I think you have a step missing which is that Cain  succedded with a escape , the result of which is the choker ending up landing on his head if he doesn't also roll with it, or lets go.

Just check out the above video. It's a bit different (JDS uses a slighly different choke and Cain had less arm and wrist control) but the concept is similar. The downward momentum and torque is probably going to send the choker donward and onto his head unless he adjusts quickly enough.

That being said I'm not saying how much  JDS was damaged by hitting his head  but just to emphaisize (in case there's the impression) that JDS didn't just hit his head by himself, like Kerr/Yamamoto

That Illegal spike hurt him bad, jds would of lost by decision anyway though. Phone Post

Read this:

27.. Spiking the opponent to the canvas onto the head or neck (pile-driving)

A pile driver is considered to be any throw where you control your opponent's body placing his feet straight up in the air with his head straight down and then forcibly drive your opponents head into the canvas or flooring material. It should be noted when a fighter is placed into a submission hold by their opponent, if that fighter is capable of elevating their opponent they may bring that opponent down in any fashion they desire because they are not in control of their opponents body. The fighter who is attempting the submission can either adjust their position, or let go of their hold before being slammed to the canvas.
