Jeet Kune Do in MMA?

Isn't the Kali elbow defense similar to the crazy monkey boxing defense where you cover up and deflect with the elbows?

The intent is a little different, but it's damn near the same motion, that's what makes it useful. You're covered, and if you hurt his hand, so much the better.

Another fun Kali thing: when faced with someone who jabs a lot, start tagging the inside of his forearm every time he throws one. you can even do it while stepping back, it's very frustrating. Again, gloves dull the effect. It works best when it's knuckle to the wrist...owie.

I'll say this ... a whole helluva lot of JKD guys have successfully competed in MMA from it's inception and still are!

It's sorta like practical application of their theory, imo.
