Versus is taking the next step in its extended coverage of World
Extreme Cagefighting. The network on Dec. 5 will air the first WEC
Outside the Cage special as a lead-in to the Dec. 12 WEC event at the
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
WEC Outside the Cage will feature interviews, fight clips and behind
the scenes footage to preview the live event.
The Dec. 12 fight card is the organization's most ambitious effort to
date including three title fights. It will air live on Versus. The main
event features featherweight champion Urijah Faber defending his belt
against Ultimate Fighting Championship and Pride veteran Jeff Curran,
Doug Marshall puts his light heavyweight title on the line against
undefeated Ariel Gandulla, middleweight champ Paulo Filho defends
against Chael Sonnen, and former UFC lightweight champion Jens
Pulver makes his WEC debut at 145-pounds against contender Cub
Swanson.
The event on Dec. 12 is the first fight after Versus and WEC announced
a partnership extension to bring 15 additional live WEC events and 20
WEC WrekCAGE episodes to the network.
"Three great title fights on the card, led by one of the most popular
MMA fighters in Urijah Faber, coupled with the WEC debut of UFC star
Jens Pulver is a great way to kick off our recently extended
partnership," said Marc Fein, Senior Vice President of Programming and
Production for Versus.
"Viewership has increased with each fight since the WEC's first event
on Versus and we are confident that this tremendous line-up of fights
will continue that trend."
