Anyone else see that on K1 dynamite? he had mount on the 400lbs russian judo guy, the guy gave his back, lebanner threw a couple of punches, briefly tried a choke, then just stood up. . . only to immediately attempt a double leg, and was sprawled out flat
does anyone have some insider info? was he messing around with a guy he knew would tire out? just trying to get more MMA experience? has he been crosstraining so hard that the takedown was a natural reaction?
after having such a dominant position it just seemed crazy to give it up, then try a takedown against a much larger opponent who specializes in grappling!
As a kickboxer I love to watch Jerome and Remy in any discipline but I def think JLB would do better in MMA than RB but Mix6APlix is prob correct - he may well be too old to take it up seriously now....
I got this info from one of his cornermen, Before the fight JLB said that he would try new things, grappling, wrestling and MMA stuff because he's been training with Dean Lister, Bertrand Amoussou and others. He was true to his word.
I think with a little more experience JLB could still be a force in MMA, according to everyone who has ever trained with him he's incredibly strong and his progress in grappling is evident.
Lebanner did not look bad against Sapp, even stuffed A few of Sapps takedowns and mounted him. And in the standup, he damn near killed sapp and had Sapp in the stand up fetal position the whole round
Le Banner is about 255 in good shape, a little less when he's super scary ripped. He hasn't looked ridiculous like in 99 (when he was 270) for a while.
