Jigsaw mats on carpet?

This might be a stupid question but I am thinking about putting some jigsaw mats in my spare room. The room has thick carpet and I don't know if the mats will stay together. I literally have zero experience with jigsaw mats but I'm not ready to drop $600 on some dollamur and I am tired of trying craigslist.

Depends on the thickness of the mats, but in my experience they tend to slide around a lot.

If you are talking about the half-inch foam mats that are the type available at the big box stores, then I would buy and apply the Gorilla brand duct tape to the back sides of the mats- like a grid pattern. Those mats will quickly disconnect themselves under stress if placed on carpet, especially.

When I first started, I had jigsaws over carpet.  They moved and came apart constantly.

DON'T DO IT. I had mine taped with wrestling tape and they still sucked on carpet Look for old thick gymnastic mats, they are much better.

everyone pretty much posted what I thought. Just going to go ahead and order some dollamur mats.
