Anyone else hear the story Chael told about Jon Jones hiding under the cage at Jackson's for 8 hours when USADA came looking for him before the Rumble fight? He told Joe Rogan on his podcast and it seemed it was a story Joe heard already also. Has anyone else heard anything about this before? Crazy story if true.
That story was going in a while back but I thought it was the fight he tested positive for coke for. Not the rumble fight.
Or was rumble the fight he tested positive for. I can't keep up with his shenanigans
Yea that was the Rumble fight. That's pretty crazy. I'm surprised his team would tolerate that. Greg Jackson and Winklejohn seem like straight edge guys.
People have been talking about it for ages. The real bomb here in that conversation was that Chael heard that USADA was gunning for Jones after that. They took it personally and had people watching him, waiting for him to fuck up. That's why Chael said imfamously that the fight was never going to happen. Not because he had heard Jon failed a test, but because he heard USADA put him on their shit list. They wanted to make an example out of him probably, to show other fighters they can't pull shit like that.
Apparently if you're a fighter you don't want to do anything that makes USADA look bad. That goes for tricking them or even saying publicly that their tests aren't accurate. They'll take it personally and make you pay. I imagine Aldo is still on their shit list for the whole Brazil fiasco.

I think he is just saying they seem honest and wouldn't want to be a part of helping someone to hide from USADA. From what I have seen I would agree with this, but you never really know. They are coaches after all, and bending the rules is a big part of every sport.
He showed a lot of heart. 8 hours is a long time to hide under a cage.
It was a silly rumor with no source whatsoever, iirc.
It's an old story now, that's been reported a few separate times.

It was similar to the opening scene of inglorious basterds

Not buying it. Really, Jon hid under a cage for 8 hours. I sort of believed it till Chael started saying they wanted forensic evidence of the urine on the Floor he left or something along those lines
S Dubaya -I'm a simpleton because a term was used incorrectly? If I know someone who eats a. Lot of salads I'm not gonna say they are vegan.... Straight edge has a meaning and it isn't that guys are MOSTLY anti drug or what have you.derekbob -Thank for explaining it to the simpleton. Vote up for your trouble. Do you feel cool calling random people on the internet simpletons? You must be real cool in your middle school.

Prolly not true, but it's a fucking great story either way

Take it personally?
They try to catch the dopers. If you hide for hours to avoid them, they'll know they got one and will obviously try to get proof.
God knows if the story is true though. Chael doesn't really have the credibility to pull an "It happened", as he did after telling the story.
