TMT - "UFC 151 got canceled and instantly my image got ruined overnight. That taught me a lot, it really did, about the UFC."
Yup.
Jones is contractually obligated to promote the UFC, but the UFC does not have to promote Jones. In fact, the UFC has crapped all over him to the media. The UFC 151 thing is a good example. Canceling UFC 151 was the UFC'c call, and the card was weak because they made it that way. Blaming Jones was completely unfair.
I'm glad Jones sees how the UFC operates.
i cant stand jbj but this!
the ufc has done just as much if not more to create this image of jones.
he probably has alot of press obligations especially leading up to fights. i would laugh my ass off if he starting pulling a marshawn lynch at press event.
Its crazy because didnt the UFC actual sponsor Jones at one point and it was like the biggest deal ever?
DoomFarmer - Point is, Jones had a lot of people who disliked him well before 151.
^^^
Fair point. I don't follow Jones closely, nor do I closely follow the UFC's statements about him. So I can't really list everything the UFC has done to make it more difficult for Jones to connect.
But Jones links the UFC's campaign against him after UFC 151 with their promotional materials showing Jones taunting Cormier when he thought he was not being recorded. I think that's a fair connection to make.
Jones is in a tough spot. The UFC is promoting itself at Jones's expense. Meanwhile, Jones is contractually obligated to promote the UFC.
Lots of people hated LeBron after "the decision." He would have had a tougher time if the NBA then started promoting itself at LeBron's expense after that. It would probably have made him less valuable to sponsors.
So I can see why Jones is not too sure about the UFC's commitment to him.
My fingers are crossed that after Jones finishes Cormier he grabs the mic and goes on a tirade. I want him to just go full heel. I mean, call out other fighters, diss the boss, even call the women in Las Vegas ugly. And then someone should throw him a Bud Light Lime and he should drink it right in the cage.

<span class="User-275350" id="userPost51977881">Sure, why not?</span></blockquote>
Well, it worked great on wrestling fans, so, yeah, why not. It's certainly better than that "I'm a good Christian and a swell role model" crap he's been trying to feed everyone.
lol just because the UFC is showing what Jones really is means theyre not promoting him? Imagine if theyre promoting his hypocrisy, would you be more interested on him?
I hated Jones because hes a hypocrite but i think because of the way UFC promotes him, he grew on me.
You people might not know, but in WWE you could be heel and the face of the company at the same time.
I think people give this guy way too much shit. He basically became a man infront of the media while being arguably the best fighter in the world. Hes gonna make mistakes hes gonna have flaws in his character hes a human being.
People sit on a high horse and criticize him like they are the moral standard. Try being in your early 20s and a ufc champion while having no bumps in the road. I guess when your that good people gotta find other ways to put you down to feel better about themselves.

Nah! You're a hypocrite too if you say youve never experienced hating someone for an unknown reason like he rubs you the wrong way or something. Its because of Jones' character we hate him (or hated at least for me) not because of the mistakes hes done. Thats why people call him "fake".

Jones has been the high-horse sitter. GOAT contender has nothing to do with being a good person.
I respect him as a fighter, but as a person, he strikes me as an A-hole.
