he's right. look at who own's the ufc. they can afford it.

Maybe they can , but is he worth it ?

yeah, he's worth it.

Jones is a proven draw. UFC has very little of that in the LHW and HW division otherwise.

cormier is done. Miocic could get a rubber match.. and... that's it...

they tried to make Israel 'the guy' of the LHW division, but that was a rude awakening for them. they have a champ with zero name value in a division with zero name value.

one way or another Jones is getting paid. just depends on where UFC needs him more.

lol @ a drug cheat and multiple time proven piece of shit human being thinking he has all the leverage in the world to get paid some ridiculous amount just because.

Fuck him! Has anyone even missed him being around? The UFC have allowed him to keep his title after multiple ass kickings and for some reason he thinks the fight will draw McGregor level attention when it won’t draw shit. smh!

So give him a flat rate and a cut of the PPV. If he draws, he gets paid, if not, then he doesn't. Fair to both parties.

259 reported 800,000 buys with Blachowicz/Adesanya headlining. Blachowicz/Reyes was co-main on Izzy/Costa before that, 700,000 buys.

Last reported buyrate I can find for Jones was Jones/Gustaffson 2 with 700,000 buys. Before that was the 2nd Cormier fight with 860,000 buys. Before that was Jones/OSP, 322,000 buys.

Jones is not a "proven draw" moreso than anyone else. He's actually been an underwhelming draw in relation to his dominance. The UFC doesn't need to empty the account to get a Jones fight when they can get the same buys with other dudes who aren't demanding 10+ mil a fight.

JJ has 2 Other Brothers to support right out of their NFL Careers , just sayin

NKcell - I wouldn’t consider it a fight of great magnitude. Jon Jones is washed up and on the take end of his career and will not nearly as impressive at HW.

Ngannou is a 1 trick pony who benefits greatly from the current social climate.

I don’t think he’s capitalizing on social climate

hes earned everything that’s come to him , people like watching him cause he’s a berserker

That's hilarious.

The funny thing is, Derrick Lewis vs Ngannou is the FAR greater fight.  Jones--IF he ever moves up, which he wont--will get folded like a lawn chair inside 2 rounds.  Jones vs Ngannou probably looks exactly like Stipe vs Ngannou... Jones underestimates Ngannou's takedown defense, shoots for a shot he probably shouldn't have gone for, and then gets pounded on.  Stipe's failed takedown changed the fight, it was the beginning of the end... and it'll be the thing that ends Jones if he ever moves up.

I would like to see all the fighters get paid but Dana ain’t going to pay McGregor money if you don’t draw McGregor numbers.

Jones seems to think that he’s actually the mega star that he SHOULD be.  Too bad he’s fucked it all up so many times.  Take away Twitter and does anyone even notice he’s gone??

10 million is way too low.. who cares what the sport paid in the past.. the money is there and ufc needs to cough it up if they want him to fight

That seems fair. A super fight everyone wants to see for the baddest man on the planet belt?

the fighters are absolutely worth more than $8m-10m each for something like this

edit: seems fair for Jones to hold out for more than 8-10

Cool story.

Can I see their books too since you clearly have access to them?

Anyways, later Jon! You won’t be missed.

I guess he just lost 10 million. Could have helped a lot of cancer kids with that.

Just as a comparison, Conor got $5m and PPV points against Poirer. So possibly $8m against another contender that he had an even shot against.

JJ is going up in weight to fight for the heavyweight championship against the most lethal puncher in the division. He deserves more than $8m for the challenge.

The problem with 90% of this conversation is that people are assuming guys are making much less than they are, and act as if Jon is asking for unprecedented numbers. Conor said he made around $50M for the Khabib fight, and was predicting to make $80M for the Cerrone fight. Even if you think he’s full of shit, you think he’s THAT full of shit? Conor is not making anywhere close to $8M a fight.

Google around about it…well respected news outlets estimate Conor’s earnings from the first Diaz fight to be around $10M with him earning $25M for the second one. Several places estimated Conor made $50M for Khabib, not just Conor tweeting it.

Watch…after Jones and the UFC figure out his deal, the reported earnings will be something like $2M flat for the payday and people here will be like “LOL, he said $10M wasn’t enough and fought for $2M hahahahhaha loser” when realistically Jon will earn $15-20M for the fight with a reported income of $2M.

Let me preface by saying I AM NOT a fan of JJ the person but begrudgingly respect his amazing accomplishments. GOAT 205’r for sure and all that jazz but he is a shit human.

Ok so that out of the way. He should get as much as he can. Plain and simple. Risk is massive so the reward should be worth it and with the amount of buzz, story line, social climate etc this fight WILL be massive. We live in a fucked up time where the right social media team can turn this into the freaking thrilla from manilla of this shitty generation.

Turn Jones into the greatest villain ever (not hard at all) and make Francis the angel hearted giant who can slay.

I mean so many story lines that with the ESPN push can make this absolutely massive.

The greatest 205’r ever vs the HW Titan that unseated the greatest HW ever.

The biggest Dbag champion ever vs one of the most generous and humble champions ever.

The man who injured pregnant women and does coke vs the man who builds schools for the underprivileged and gives charity.

Plus in todays society the payday it self also draws crowds. A massive MMA payday will draw attention.

Fuck why do you think so many casual people tuned into see Mayweather? They wanted to see what 20-30-40 mill a performance looked like. The same will happen with Jones.

If only Jon had kept all that sponsorship money.

Oh, I must’ve missed the part where BLM sent Stipe into the fucking neatherrealm with punches.
