Jon Jones fights Alexander Gustafsson live on PPV Saturday night and told FOX Los Angeles that he thinks "The Mauler" is insecure. Gustafsson has only one loss on his record, a submission via choke to Phil Davis back in 2010. That loss, Jones believes, took Gustafsson's soul.

“Phil Davis took his soul, took his heart, took his will to fight away in under five minutes," said Jones. "He tapped out with less than 10 seconds left."

“I think he was being choked for only 2 seconds, so that showed me that he got claustrophobic in there, he was uncomfortable, basically his will to fight was over. That tells me a lot about his character and what type of heart he has.

"He's mentioned that he needs to stick and move and I think it does show about his psychology. I think stick and move is a psychology of the insecure fighter.

“It shows me he may feel inferior somewhere in his heart and if that's in there I will draw it out of him.”

Alexander > Matt Hamill > Jon Jones

I think Gusraffson's only gotten better. Jones is obviously trying to encourage Alex to not stick and move because it's the only chance Gustaffson has. Can't see Jones losing this.

I wouldn't be surprised if this guy huffs his own jockstrap after each training session. Phone Post 3.0

Jon is really bad at building up his fights to garner more interest. All he does it shit on his opponents/potential opponents and make them sound like they have no chance. He even downplayed Cormier's wrestling. If he wants to make that money he might want to try a different tack.

I'm not a JBJ hater but, someone who is 6'4 who sidekicks someone directly to the knee is an insecure striker. It's a bitch move. Just being honest Jon.

do you even lift?

He wasn't "sticking and moving" here. He had put himself in am awkward position and had no other way to get out of it and back on the offensive.

What a bunch of blind and clueless haters. Do you think Bones gives a shit how those comments make him look to a bunch of popcorn munching MMA geek armchair analyzers? Jon is a lot smarter than you twits give him credit for, and he loves it. This guys is as competitive as they come. He is a student of every aspect of the game, including the mental, and he must think its funny as hell that so many people view him as naïve, weird, unlikeable, and even stupid. Because while you, and even some of his opponents, are distractedly yapping about this silly and trivial gossip, this stone cold killer's mental gamesmanship is flying under everyone's radar assessing everyone's weaknesses and getting inside their heads. If you don't think Jones has planted some questions and doubts in Gus' head and set him up to make some fatal mistakes with those comments, then your brain has checked out. Jon is setting this encounter up masterfully. You may hate his calm, seemingly inflated and almost eerie arrogance, but I can assure you that that level of confidence and dismissive arrogance towards his opposition is a weapon that can plant both doubt and recklessness in his competition, very much like A Silva's mystique helped him defeat so many fighters before they stepped into the octagon.

He definitely does stick and move quite a bit, among other striking tactics. So that comment just shows he is trying to say something derogatory but it is kind of hypocritical. Just some hype, obviously. Rather lame actually.

Oh yeah, I watched this fight, so I know what's up. This is the one where Bones dominated Rampage for four rounds and then tapped him.
