At only twenty six years of age, Jon Jones already holds the title for consecutive title defenses in the history of the light heavyweight division.

Jones has looked impressive in every fight, but not more so than at this past weekend's UFC 172. Jones put the fight where most people believed Glover Teixeira had an advantage and beat him at his own game. Jones believes that is making improvements every camp and plans to be the champion for a while:

“I do have a lot of great gifts. You have to be smart. You have to have a great work ethic. One thing you have to have is a chin. I realized I have a chin. I caught some uppercuts and some left hooks. I’m blessed to prove I can fight at close range. A lot of people believe that to beat me you have to get inside. Today I threw more elbows standing than ever,” he noted.

“I’m closing up the holes in my game – jiu-jitsu, takedown defense, takedowns, close-range fighting. I believe I’ll be champion for a long time.”

He will be. He's got an unbelievable skill set.

I think it's going to take someone his own size to defeat him. Other than that he can rule that division as long as he wants. Phone Post 3.0

Jones

Until he has to face cormier.

imo he will be champ til the bad luck fairy strikes

Could be. Lot of things can happen in an MMA fight, but he'll be rightfully favored in every MMA fight he's in for along tome.

Until someone 'pokes' a hole in his game. Gus is coming.....again

I'd worry about that first and then the next few fights.

Gus had his chance and came up just short. Jackson will put together a game plan and Jones will win convincingly next time. Cormier is interesting but I don't know if he is ready.

He may just have jinxed himself, like Ben Henderson did.

He lost to gus. He should be happy he has the belt still. Phone Post 3.0

He already has been. I think the only division that hasn't crowned a new champ since JBJ beat Shogun is featherweight with Jose Aldo Phone Post 3.0

Fed - GUS & DC

No just dc

Except Hamill and Gus already bested him once Phone Post 3.0

Never go full UGtard.

Jon Jones is the greatest of all-time, if not, he probably will be very shortly. People may not like to hear that since Fedor/Anderson/GSP have made them into fans, but look at Jones' body of work. Phone Post 3.0

Fine, but rewatch the fight and learn what the rest of us learned after we rewatched the fight live the first time while rooting for every little victory Gus had in the fight behind the booming praise of Joe Rogan. You'll see the real fight. Phone Post 3.0

rounds 1-4.5 = Gus

round 4.6 - 5 = Jones
