Although Anderson Silva is a long time mixed martial artist, he has continually an expressed a desire to box with legendary fighter Roy Jones Jr. Silva is under exclusive contract with the UFC and the bout is never likely to take place, but Jones Jr. wishes it could have:

“Anderson Silva is one of the best human beings I’ve ever met. He’s a wonderful friend, a wonderful person. A person, who like myself, when we succeed at something we want to try something else if we can. We want to see how far we can go. We want to test the skies to see if the sky the limit,” Jones, Jr. said.

“But on his downside, the UFC won’t allow him to fulfill his dream and get in the ring and enjoy a night of sharing the ring with the great Roy Jones, Jr. It’s such a pity. It’s such a shame because it’s a night that I’m sure people from both worlds would really admire, and would love to see, and would get a lot from because of two legends in the ring at once. Although it’s boxing, we could share the ring together because Anderson can box. He’s a professional fighter too, and he’s an entertainer just as myself.

“I feel really solid that [the UFC] won’t allow him to do that. But as a fighter, I think he’s a phenomenal fighter and I think he’s probably going to be one of the best UFC fighters to ever touch the planet.”

seems like someone really wanted that paycheck...

Dream match up for rjj. Would get paid big money and would likely easily win. Phone Post 3.0

ding ding ding ding ding ding

Reality is if Anderson really wanted to box, he wouldn't have just signed a new contract. Phone Post 3.0

Would be unfair if it was a straight-up boxing match - RJJ would just clean AS clock and easily as that, imo.

I suggest:

1. K-1 rules

OR

2. boxing using mma gloves.

CapnKindBud - What's stopping Roy Jones from fighting mma with Silva? Phone Post 3.0

because Roy isn't an idiot and knows he'd get crushed in MMA.

this was Silva's idea to box, not Roy's

Dana would be an idiot to let Anderson box because he'd get fucking tooled.

this.

but i still want to see it

Did he really refer to himself as "The great Roy Jones Jr"..? Phone Post 3.0

Everyone knows that the bottom line is more important for the UFC than any fighter's aspirations by now, GOAT included.

He signed a contract.

That's ALL there is to this.

Silly Roy Jones.

He wasn't going to finish his last contract either tbh, the 15 fight thing was kind of weird since he already had like 7 left.

This.

And before this contract he signed an 8 fight agreement as well, all the while talking about how badly he wants to box RJJ. It's obviously not the priority he makes it out to be. Phone Post 3.0

There's not much else to say IMO.

The window of interest for that has passed. Anderson got KO'd twice by a juijitsu guy. I think we all know how this boxing match would play out.

Jones should have gotten in ala Toney, then he and Silva could have a gentlemen's agreement to keep it standing.
