Josh Koscheck will be champ 1 day

imo
He looks kinda like a chimp and we all know he is a chump, but champ is kinda pushing it.

Garret jj needs to slit his wrists if he older than 13...

I agree completely that he has all the potential to be champion. His saying he is spending 90% of his time working standup (though probably an exaggeration) is exactly what should be the case. Compare that to Coleman and Randleman, two Olympic level wrestlers, who, whenever they're shown training, are still just shooting doubles all day long.

However, I think it's funny that Koscheck was dismissed completely by everyone a few days ago, but after one win over a guy who MAY be top 20 at 170, Josh's chances against guys like Hughes are now being seriously discussed.

Another impressive thing was that in the replay, when he threw the big right that dropped Goulet, Koscheck instantly brought his right back to protect his chin, something you see all too rarely in MMA striking. His trainers are doing a great job.

i think he sould work on being a great submissionist more so than striking for now. but it is good to see him shutting up the haters

I hate him, I hate him, I hate him. But fuck, you might be right.

i think the 170 divisinon in UFC is possibly the best division in the world, tons of talent in there...tons

Is he good? Yes.

Is he improving? Yes.

Let's just leave it at that.....

I agree with orcus..

Koshcheck beats some bug-eyed freakin' wierdo in first round and now he will be as good as Hughs, please... Diego would eventually submit him or pound him...I agree Koshcheck is well improved and swift on his feet, guess we'll just see what happen greekjim

"I hate him, I hate him, I hate him. But fuck, you might be right."

I dont hate the guy but I dont really like him as a person. At least that's what comes accross for me. But I know what you mean.

As long as he keeps improving you never know.

The UFC WW has just got, once again, that much deeper.

Which is exactly what Santiago did not do, that got him KO'd by Leben. I have the same bad habit. The replay with Santiago eating a left hook from Leben was the classic example of why your hand should go right back up to protect your face after you throw a punch.

Jonathan Goulet is no scrub. I thought he's pretty much manhandle most of the division but he was owned standing and on the ground by Koshcheck.

Koshckeck has improved greatly, but I haven't seen enough of the new him to say he'd be able to beat Hughes or GSP in the near future.

He's naturally talented, but you can see the gears at work in his game.

He telegraphs things but gets away with it because of his strength. A top
tier fighter will see him coming from a mile away. In other words, he
doesn't have the mental game of a champ.

Also, alot of people on here seem to forget that dazed look and purple
forehead Kos had after fighting Diego.

I think we'll see in time all these matches against Koscheck. He's stand up is already looking better than Hughes, Karo, Sanchez, and Diaz.

" In other words, he doesn't have the mental game of a champ."

As Fredrico points out, the guy was a 4-time NCAA champ, and that world is way more competitive than MMA currently is.

"Also, alot of people on here seem to forget that dazed look and purple forehead Kos had after fighting Diego."

He had only been doing MMA for one year at that point, with 3-4 fights under his belt, versus KotC champ Diego who was already 12-0 or something like that. Even so, Diego never came close to submitting him, and was unable to sweep him as he (easily and repeatedly) did to Karo and Diaz.

I can picture Koscheck being a serious title threat within the next couple of years. But the same is true of Diego Sanchez. And they'll both have to get past Penn, GSP and Hughes, which is monumental task.

"However, I think it's funny that Koscheck was dismissed completely by everyone a few days ago, but after one win over a guy who MAY be top 20 at 170, Josh's chances against guys like Hughes are now being seriously discussed."

Actually, I predicted that he would beat Goulet and I've always said that Koscheck was really underrated. Just like I've always said that Diego was vastly underrated on this forum.

its really hard for me to think or want this guy to become anymore than what he is.
