JKA Judo- I am not sure if my sensei is still working with NYU. His name is Shiro Oishi. He has his own dojo (www.oishi-judo.com)in downtown Manhattan about 5 minutes away from NYU by train. I don't know exactly what his capacity is/was with NYU but we had a few students from the university who ended up joining.
I think Shiro Oishi runs judo classes at NYU. His dojo is in the Tribeca area, 79 Leonard Street.
I also remember reading on this forum that there is another Judo place somewhere in the East Village area, haven't checked it out myself.
Check out the dojos listed under http://www.hudsonjudo.org
there are lots of clubs in NY. Starett, spartek, NYAC just to name a few.
Thank you all.
I think the NYU option will be best since he will be staying on campus.
The McBurney YMCA is fairly close to that area as well.......
