Wasn't joe charles a judo guy?
Michigan judo black belts that started competing years ago in mma and were members or associates of the former Metro Fight Club:
Quincy Rice, David Garcia, Brad Burrick, Don Richard.
Rice, Garcia and Richard have competed in the past on MFC judo teams that won Great Lakes team titles.
Also, Michigan has a tuff female mma fighter - Marie Colangelo - who is a judo brown.
Don't forget Christophe Leinenger.
