I tried to get up on to my parent's roof off a ladder, it was difficult because there's a solid 2 feet of snow on it. I got a foot on the roof and stuck my shovel in the snow and all the snow in a 5 ft. square decided to give way and took me right along with it.
I somehow kicked the ladder away from me and just shot straight down ~20 ft. Everything was white and I dropped straight into a snowdrift all scrunched up and buried.
My brother had to pull me out cause I couldn't move and couldn't see. I have a pretty good bruise on my butt from where my heel got driven into my sit bone, but aside from that I'm fine. I was a little shook up for a bit though.
Stay safe out there, fellow Northeasters. Be safe on the roofs and the roads.
That's what you get for brushing snow off of your roof you dumb bastard.
Unfortunately my parents got taken advantage of by multiple contractors and the roof needs to be cleared after every storm or it rains inside their home.
My neighbor died from falling off an 8 foort eve, his foot caught the gutter and he went head first into the concrete. Ive seen babies fall out of 2 story windows onto concrete with no damage. Luck has a lot to do with it.
My dad did that a few years ago. Except he landed face first on this mound of packed snow and ice from snowblowing the driveway. Multiple small cuts and a concussion is all he got
