Just got back from Braulio Estima seminar

It was great, the guy is an amazing teacher and a extremely nice person. I reccomend everyone to check out his seminar if you get a chance.

i totally wasnt interested at all in a braulio seminar, but now because of what you said i think i MIGHT check it out. maybe.....

Same here, I wasn't interested but after how well you described it I might look into it now.

Did you roll with him?

It really was one of the best seminars I have been to. Great details and clear instruction. I rolled with him and it was pretty much the most humbling experience I have had on the mat ever. The sad part is he was probably going about 25% and still tooling me. It truly is amazing how much better the top guys are it's almost impossible to comprehend.

Agreed. What belt are you mate?

I just got my black belt in September

Awesome- I met Braulio for a brief second in Spain this year- he seemed like a super friendly guy.

I just wanted to say it was good, and check it out if you get a chance not write a 3 page review of it.

By the way I've read alot of your post and have I ever mentioned what a nice and welcoming represenitive off Bjj you are. Just imagine if everyone in the sport had your positive attitude...We're so lucky to have your helpful wisdom to pass along to all the new forum members. Man I guess we can only dream :-)
What kind of techniques/positions did Braulio cover? Any key conceptual insights you gained? Did you get a chance to roll with him, what was that like if so? Braulio has given several seminars here in Texas recently, and I am BITTER that I haven't been able to attend any of them. He is definitely one of my jiu-jitsu heroes.

I will wholeheartedly agree with the other guys. It was a great seminar with a very nice guy. He had time to bs with everyone and seemed to show you everything he knows about a certain position. He didn't hold anything back.

This seminar was side control. Mostly controlling the hips. Very good simple concepts and setups to kimura's and straight armbars. The best part was him trying to do flips on the trampoline. good stuff

The seminar was great it was not only what he showed but kinda the things he said and the philosophys he shared. He explained about how his instuctor was a blubelt when he started training and trained with the same guys until he reached brown. He spoke about always trying new things and developing new techniques. Also to not be discouraged if you do not have a room full of blackbelts. He also was really good at explaining all the details and interacted well with the students when teaching or demonstrating a technique. Honestly of all the seminars I've been to I enjoyed this one the most. I wish I could have had a chance to roll with him but I know how that is.

I really admire his game and how different it is. I think you can credit this to not having a instructor there to TELL you what techniques to focus on. He instead developed his own game from his own creation instead of just doing the normal thing.

AWESOME. Thank you for sharing that; I came up in similar gyms, and can really relate. I have heard similar philosophies from other high level guys and felt the same way personally, but it is really cool to hear that coming from Braulio himself!

Oh and his Borat Impression was epic.
