So I'm broke and can't buy anything over $5 but I just got a used computer. Some guy's old gaming rig. It's not a powerhouse or anything but he said he could play most things up to about Skyrim.
Anyway, I've been a console only guy for years and years...last time I played a computer game Burning Crusade (WoW) just came out.
What can I play that is free (or very cheap) that is fun and worth my time? I'm open to any suggestions except: anything that needs a controller, sports games, and racing games.

If you want a free ARPG try Marvel Heroes. I'm enjoying it. The only thing you have to pay real money for is storage space. You get one free block of space then have to pay for the rest.
From what has been told to me by other players you don't really need the extra storage space anyway.
War Thunder is a pretty fun WW2 flight sim. Currently in open beta.
Me and Jens Pulver play smite almost every night... Completely free except you can buy gods/skins with real money instead of ingame money if you don't want to work for it.

Get yourself a steam account and keep on the lookout for deals. There are daily deals and you can often grab great games for 5$. You should also look at humble bundle, lots of great games for very little money.

I actually really wanted to get KOTOR but it's still $10, may a tad more than I have right now for gaming. Not that that's a terrible price because the game is worth it but I was hoping it would be around $3-5.

Just a tip for using steam too. If you put a game in your wishlist they will send you an e-mail when it goes on sale.
You should really only buy game on Steam when they are on sale cause everything goes on sale.
