i was always a casual Beastie Boys fan when they were active, but I listened to BB more as background/party music and never really listened to their albums from front to back, as a whole, until recently (on weed....)
I can imagine how many minds were blown with License to Ill
I understand this is a very controversial opinion but i hate that beastie boys, i didnt like them when the music was new or relevant, and I hate when I hear it now.

Most white people love when this shit comes on.
same here. literally never been a fan. that nasally high pitched voice combined with wack as fuck lyrics never did anything for me. then, the more i found out about them (originally a failed punk rock band, then turned into a rap group to sell to white kids according to lyor cohen) the more i disliked them.
all the guys that give groups like the backstreet boys and n'sync shit for being manufactured boy bands should give the same shit to the beasties because that pretty much what they are. they toured with madonna for christs sake.

Back in 86, when Liscensed to Ill came out, the thing to do for youngsters in my town was to cruise main street. It was always bumper to bumper old skool shit. The winter of 86/87, it seemed like every car was blasting the beasties. They did a new years eve show with Run DMC about 2hrs away and I didn't go. I was only 16, but still a regret.
Lic to Ill, Check Your Head and Pauls Boutique were so far ahead of their time. Lic to Ill is what really got me into hip hop in the mid 80s... every song was bad ass and loved how they and Rick Rubin mixed in classic rock guitar in the songs.
