just returned. . .

from Skinny Puppy, at the Avalon in Boston.

i have to admit i was nervous about this show. it's been, what, 10 years since last we heard from Nivek Ogre and Cevin Key as a pair. i thought they may have become old, or jaded, or whatever.

well, i was blown away. UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE.

maybe they've lost some energy from their former glory days: i don't know, as i didn't see them back then. however if that is the case it must have been a spectacle indeed to see a show in their heyday. Ogre is a spastic madman, and the stage presence he exudes is unmatched in my experience.

i know they played some older material, but i cannot for the life of me remember what any of it was, with one exception: they played Smothered Hope as the last song of their encore. which was more than i'd dared to dream.

far and away the best concert i've ever attended.

oh, and RIP Dwayne Goettel, lest we forget you.

visc, did you make the Houston show?
