Just saw the ESPN special

There is another angle on this. I have had guys in the UFC for years, and they have always been treated fair, and some of them, although not rich, have managed to do as well or better , and sometimes faster then if they had picked some other profession. That being said, my problem is with what a fighter needs to invest in himself, to be able to get up into that ring and perform. Its professional coaching, supplements, Physical prep, Medical costs, besides his cost of living. And he cannot tell if he will fight 1, 2 or 3 times in a year, through no fault of his own, or the UFC, its just the way this sport is. To be a professional fighter at the level that these athletes are competing at, makes it very tough indeed to have a regular job, and still compete successively, although many do. This is the problem of the economical feasibility of a fighter. But even with this imbalance, they are all out there making it work and surviving and having fun, and as the sport steams forward, more interest is generated, more opportunity's arise improving the situation.

MMALOGIC -  Nascar pays around 25%...  the WWE pays around 28%...  the UFC pays in the same neighborhood...

The socialists need to get this 50% nonsense out of their heads. UFC's model and market realities mostly resembles nascar and the WWE and any real estimate shows that UFC pay for talent is very close to those 2.

Regardless,  when did share of revenue become the means to calculate compensation?  some people need to go live in cuba.

Where do your numbers come from? Phone Post

Peripherally I have worked for ESPN (although not on the TV side) for nearly a decade and I tend to agree with many of your points. I didn't feel as if they wanted to invest the time or manpower to discover the answers to some of these questions which are perfectly legitimate. I think it's an interesting topic, but the piece wasn't very well done. Phone Post

Outlaw'd by Lytle -
Elias Cepeda -  For your trouble:

I'd appreciate something better for my troubles sir. Distinctly average picture. Phone Post
I don't think an average picture can be taken of Salma Hayek:)

Fight Monkey - How come when a guy with a black or a blue name posts something longer than 2 paragraphs all you virgins come out in swarms to attack them cause your attention spam doesn't seem to last longer than 50 words. But when a red or green name post something educational that is 9 paragraphs long all of a sudden you guys are ready to read till your eyes bleed. I see brown stains on the noses of everyone who responded. <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

Doesn't this really need an explanation?

Maybe because Elias has been a respected member of the MMA community for a long time, now. Not just the UG, mind you, either. The content of his message and the way it is crafted lives up to his reputation, as well. Now please, in the future, try not to live up to the expectations of your join date.

It's worth noting that a number of red names get the UG treatment around here. Elias would, too, but he hasn't been around much lately and has been missed.

Had HS or Zip written all that, they would have gotten plenty of FRATs. Same for Rick Storm, who regularly gets crap from me about his age, despite the fact that I am only 11 months and change younger than he is.

No one gets more crap on this board than Chris, and he's not just a mod, he's an admin.
