Its a lot of fun so far. Pretty scary being a first person style with no real way of telling what's around you unless its in your field of vision. Not all zombies show up on radar.

You said everything, not everything positive. Ok, on the positive side, ABU, always be upgrading. The enemies can get tough quickly, so always be on the lookout for better weapons. If your boat oar breaks in the middle of a big crowd you are in trouble.
Also, carry explosives. There is this big zombie type, cannot remember what it is called, but they will kick your ass. A pipe bomb at their feet as they lumber close will save you alot of trouble. Also, attack the arms of the big ones. It's much easier to take their arms off than to kill them. Then you can kill them safely.
I thought the whole game was awesome, alot of ppl on this forum disagree though ;)
I was the guy who threw knives for his fury move, and it was just OP later in the game. Would 1 shot groups of zombies and do tons of damage to the 'special' ones.

I have been playing the last 3 hours. Teamed up with 3 random people. Game is such a blast. Felt... real. Here I am thinking I'm billy bad ass with my crow bar. Mollywhopping walkers, till I get over the mountain an see like 12 of em. I tuck ass an book it as they give chase, an as I'm about to run outta stamina I hear gun shots as two random peeps who are looking for gasoline, come to my rescue. Armed with shotguns. Fuckin awesome.
The fistd are the best weapon in the game nothing beats getting backmount and beating the shit outta the back of a zombie head or getting one in a corner while yelling "GET HIM IN THA CORNA ROCK" in your best Mick coice with all your friends. 
I played through it as the melee dude and the absolute best thing was knocking em down and stompin on their heads
Play co-op if possible. Lets the game show off its true strengths IMO.

Yeah I'm enjoying it. Especially the way random people come an go and decide to help each other or not. I usually hate rpg style games too

I loved dead island, the sequel Dead Island Riptide is supposed to come out in April. Felt most complaints were about the over reliance on melee weapons, there weren't many guns available until you reached the city.
But I felt this made the game more fun and challenging, battling a few zombies at once with a 2x4 with a nail at close range rather than just wasting them away at long distance with a gun makes it scarier to try and survive.

If you are on Xbox 360, look up on YouTube the ultimate mod dead island (something like that). Basically it requires a pc, a free program, and a jump drive. I'll look for the link
