Thanks to Alphadogg I watched the Lesner Mir fight again on the link he posted. So after review I have to say that Lesner only really hit mir a couple times before he hit him in the back of the head and hadn't really done to much damage. He did more damage after they re-started, but if you watch it Lesner is hiting with like hammer fist, instead of punching straight down. Lesner needs to improve his ground'npound if he wants to improve.. IMO... But after I watched again I don't think the stop affected the fight outcome, Mir just did a good job swinging around in guard to catch his leg. Lesner will return and will get some wins though, mark my words!!
yeah when i watched it again mir wasn't in as bad shape as i originally thought. but he was stuck in halfguard and turning belly down which is why he got hit in the back of the head. don't think he would have been able to spin around & do to much from there to brock.
I was going to say that about the hammer fist. You can hit extremely hard without worrying about spraining your wrist and catching a knuckle the wrong way. It is under utilized in my opinion. Try it yourself on a heavy bag. You can do hammer fists all day long.
Just watched the fight again and noticed that Steve Mazz is/was/did make a statement for MMA. I think the point deduction was really quick...the strike to the back of Mir's head looked totally accidental.
Then there's the official stoppage that was kinda slow on the response imo.
Maybe would've been better if Lesnar had won.
cringes to think about all the WWE/rock/redneck fans showing up for ziujits class this week....
Yeah I agree that he turned his head, so point shouldn't be deducted.. He should have just warned Lesner, but I don't think Lesner was gonna end the fight right then, but you never know its fighting... When I watched it again Mir didn't look in trouble as bad as when I watched it the first time live.. Its kinda like when you see a bad call in football or basketball... IMO
there is no way to prepare for every variable in mma when u are a
green competitor.you gotta go out and go for it then reavuleate on
monday and make corrections.i was impressed with brock and thought
mir was a gnar gnar opponent for a mma virgin.
