Just watched Mayorga vs Mitchell..

And I've got to say, if Trinidad has even 50% of what he used to be left, he will knock Mayorga out. All those right hands and left hooks that Mitchell landed at will, would equal a short ass fight had Tito been landing them.

Ricardo has the proverbial puncher's chance, but I cant see him standing up to the power that Tito brings. Tito in spectacular fashion. I'll say 2 or 3 rounds.

He took them, but Mitchell doesn't pack nearly as much power as Tito does.

Tito will also be wearing 2 years of ring rust.

The break will probably be good for tito. He was very busy for a long time and he had some brutal fights. You have to remember that in 2 of his last 4 fights not counting Cherifi (Vargas, Hopkins) Tito took some tremendous punishment. I look for Tito to absolutely obliterate Mayorga.

A rusty Tito will still be a dangerous, but Mayorga can bang and Tito might not have the time shake the rust out.

Still up in the air on who I'd pick to win this one, but I just can't see Tito going in there and blowing Mayorga out after being out of the ring for as long as he has.

I agree with BF. Mayorga's unpredictability and bravery/idiocy with undoubtedly make this one a shoot out. Even when Tito was at his peak, he was prone to being tagged and hurt/dropped early before finding a home for his shots. Rusty, and against a wild opponent with good power, he may find himself in a very dangerous situation.

However I'd like to to this opportunity to thank Mayorga for giving me another chance to see Tito batter someone with one of his famed left hooks.

Tito will destroy Mayorga like he did Yory Boy Campas.

I was never a huge fan of Tito but in this case I would love to see him KO Mayorga. Mayorga is just too arrogant for me and deserves to be knocked out.

Tito's inactivity is a big negative for me.

Back in 1999-2001, he was a machine. The analogy someone made above of Campas-Tito is pretty accurate, IMHO. Straight on punchers are perfect for Tito. But two years off is tough. No tuneup, either, and I suspect Tito's style is one that needs activity to be fine-tuned.

Plus NOBODY has said what weight it's at. Tito was too big for 154 and 160 was much better for him. Yet Mayorga just moved to '54. That's a factor as well. Clearly the higher weight would favor Tito.

All in all, I might pick Mayorga in this one. The guy has an amazing chin. Tito doesn't have a great chin, he's got one that got better with moving up in weight, and he has a ton of heart. But Mayorga might just jump on him and mug him early and I could see him winning if he gets an early break.

I can tell Mayorga one thing. That is if he plans to win a decision, he had better knock Tito down at least twice in every round.

Mayorga's record:

Humberto Aranda stopped him in his first fight.

This type of fight usually means nothing. Arturo Gatti lost an early fight, Pazienza did too, Hopkins lost his debut.

Look at Mayorga's chin vs Forrest. How many guys could willingly take those right hands?

jaseprobst is correct. Its Mayorgas time, he's gonna pick Tito apart. His chin is solid and what hasnt been said about his punching power...and vs a Tito thats been inactive for two years? Haha you're in for a treat, Trinidad fans!

"Look at Mayorga's chin vs Forrest. How many guys could willingly take those right hands?"

Ah... but there needs to be an asterix next to this statement. Mayorga took the shots, but... he had his chin very well buried into his chest. His chin wasn't tested at all.

He was taking them on the top of his head mostly, but not on his chin. Forrest (and more recently, Mitchell) stunned him, and neither punches as hard as Tito.

Again, I'll give him the proverbial puncher's chance, but I believe Tito stops him in a wild one.

I'm telling you...Mayorga KO's Tito.

Tito's chin is a little supect.

Mayorga KO's Tito, I've been saying it all along now. The man is just about unstoppable, and would be undefeated today if not for the four men who have already beaten him: Cory Spinks, Henry Castillo,Roger Flores, and Humberto Aranda. Ignore these four measly losses, (and the fact that one of the opponents was 0-1) and he has a perfect record.
