Just watched RD 1 of GSP/Hendricks multiple times

As a Canadian and GSP nuthugger who had him winning last night with a bunch of other GSP nuthuggers, I watched the 1st and 5th round several times today. Unfortunately, I hate to admit that Hendricks won rds 1, 2, 4. The 1st was close but the big difference maker was the hard elbows and elbows Hendricks landed when defending the takedowns. George got the 5th based on being more active since Hendricks basically coasted. Hopefully, GSP smashes him in a rematch Phone Post 3.0

If you read the live discussion threads for the event, the large majority scored that for Hendricks 10-9. Some scored it 10-10. Almost no one scored it 10-9 GSP.

It's only after the decision was announced did people try to revise history and act like it was a debated round as it was happening live. Because as it was happening live, that was not being considered a debated round.

It's just people trying to justify a bogus decision after the fact. If Hendricks had gotten the UD, anyone trying to argue that GSP won would have been laughed at.

Chris12 is exactly right. Hendricks landed some brutal elbows on gsp and punches while defending against the td. He also landed at least 6 hard inside knees to the thighs of gsp. Round 1 was clearly hendricks 10-9. Phone Post

Solid post. I have GSP 1,3 and 5 but the first was very close. One of the closest fights I can remember

I watched round 2 again and I feel pretty confident saying GSP won that round. Phone Post 3.0

I meant hard elbows and uppercuts* Phone Post 3.0

As or the knees in the clinch, everytime Hendricks landed a knee, George's leg would go flying backwards. There was a big difference in power between their knees. Plus the uppercuts and elbows landed when gsp failed his takedown attempts. They are both tied in takedowns. It comes down to GSP's jabs and kicks compared to Hendricks elbows/uppercuts and he also won the knee exchange in the clinch to. Really sad to admit it but, the answer is obvious, Hendricks......... Won :( Phone Post 3.0

Vu op. It seems to be really hard for a lot of people to do that. Phone Post 3.0

Although he did land some good knees, George was making his legs fly back like that to take the sting out of them.

I only watched it once and I can honestly say I watched it without bias but I just don't think Johnny did enough to win the 1st round.

The rest of the rounds were pretty obvious to me (2, 4 to Hendricks - 3, 5 to GSP) but I could definitely see why the judges gave the 1st to GSP. It's not that he won the round, it's that he got it by default by being the champ.

Having said all that, I don't think it would've been unfair to give Johnny the fight due to the damage he done in rds 2 and 4 and by winning them more clearly then the rds GSP won.

It wasn't a robbery though. If you want to know the definition of a robbery watch the Pac vs Bradley fight. Phone Post 3.0

I had it scored the same way OP. Phone Post 3.0

That is how I scores it. Phone Post 3.0

Exactly , I can't really make a final conclusion of the first round as it was SO close. So why no draw in that round ? Which would have left Gsp with round 3 and 5 and Hendricks with 2 and 4.
Very close round , could have been scored to either fighter . For the things Dana said I think he needs to go back and rematch and apologize to Gsp . Dana just being Dana fucking white . " Phone Post 3.0

Please educate yourself.

Gsp leg went flying cuz he wasn't planting his feet to lessen the impact.

Congrats BUT:

If you could not see that the 1st time like EVERY major website did did based on damage then really you're better of not scoring the fights IMO.

for jh in  r1 imo the knees and elbows alone were enough to win him that round

gsp landed a decent head kick, but thats about it

i just watched it again btw
