K.J wants January 30 Strikeforce rematch with Diaz

Noons beat Diaz down in that fight.

"Uh, Noons was asking to defend his title against Eddie Alvarez instead. Please note this was after Eddie had beaten Kawajiri (KO) and Hansen and Dida (KO). But I guess KJ thought Diaz, whom he had had ZERO trouble with in their first fight, was somehow more deadly, right? Based on his AWESOME wins over Aina (controversial split) and Corbrey (TKO win after coming in 9lb overweight for a 160lb weighin against a guy who should be -- and now is -- at 145)?"

Alvarez wasnt even in the promotion.

The only reason anyone knows Noons name is because he beat Diaz, considering it was stopped on cuts and Diaz was able to continue he owed him a rematch.

Noons had been KO'd a fight earlier before he got a shot at Diaz, but then he wins and acts like hes some amazing champion with his 6-2 record. Maybe shut your fuckin mouth and fight, win a few more fights then you can pick your fights.

Lil Brock beat me to it.

Eddie Alvarez WAS under contract with Strikeforce and WAS scheduled to fight for them at that time. KJ said Eddie deserved the shot before Diaz, who had only beaten Denny and Corbrey (with god knows what weight advantage) after getting embarassed by Noons.

So now that you know that, do you stand by your ridiculous claim that KJ was scared to fight a guy who literally had NOTHING for him in their first fight and had been entirely unimpressive since, so KJ wanted to take the safer fight of the 20-1 guy who had smashed his way into a top 3 in the world spot?

"The only reason anyone knows Noons name is because he beat Diaz, considering it was stopped on cuts and Diaz was able to continue he owed him a rematch."

  1. Noons beats Diaz so badly in a single laughably lopsided round that Nick needs surgery to repair his face

  2. Diaz beats two nobodies, one of whom he probably had 15+lb on

  3. Noons "owes" Diaz a rematch?

Seriously, wtf are you talking about? How could you POSSIBLY conclude that Diaz should have been the contender in line ahead of Eddie Alvarez who was at worst #3 in the world at the time and was coming off huge wins, and who hadn't already been embarassed by KJ? This isn't a case of there not being any other challengers. There was a FAR BETTER qualified challenger. Nor was it a case of the first fight being close or even competitive.

This doesn't make sense to book right off the bat. Nick Diaz should (and hopefully will) fight Jay Hieron for the WW title, and they should have K.J. Noons fighting one of the other 155lb standup guys like Jorge Gurgel or Conor Huen to re-introduce himself.

Sure his face was cut up but that was as much leftover from the Gomi fight as anything. He was definately still able to continue and wanted to. Noons shouldve just took the fight and got on with it. Somebody like him with his godly 6-2 record was in no position to be picking his fights. He had been KO'd by Krazy Horse then wins on cuts against one of the more known guys in the promotion. But yet he is too good for the rematch that the promoters wanted and that made sense with the post fight antics.

So he calls out Alvarez who yes was signed, my bad. But nobody in Elites fan base really knew who Alvarez was, and Diaz had won 3 in a row. To say someone like Nick Diaz doesnt deserve a rematch with someone like KJ Noons is a joke.

IIRC nobody even really knew if Alvarez was able to fight after the Kawajiri fight. But thats irrelevant anyway, they wanted one of there bigger draws to fight for the title but this guy doesnt want that fight? So he just says no?

This isnt Anderson Silva were talking about, its KJ Noons

 This never gets old.

Noons' dad is gettin' water-bottled and beaten down this time fo sho!

WAR BROS DIAZ!!!

LOL.  Fuck KJ Noons.  Dude thought he was big enough to call the shots and got sat the fuck down...

How many champs have been stripped of their belts for turning down opponents? lol

from what i read, when noons was champ they didn't want to pay him what a champ should make so he turned down the fight.

anyway... noons vs evangelista would be a good fight in january...or vs gurgel or even vs mike aina. after boxing the last year i don't think noons would want a grappler like beerbohm yet.

aint no bitch.

diaz my favorite fighter by a mile

but noons worked him pretty easily.

would love to see a rematch

"Sure his face was cut up but that was as much leftover from the Gomi fight as anything."

Oh, so the broken orbital (i.e. under the eye) in the Gomi fight is why he was cut OVER both eyes in the Noons fight? I see.

"He was definately still able to continue"

Yeah lots of fighters are allowed to continue with giant cuts over both eyes.

"that made sense with the post fight antics."

Oh, gotcha. So whenever the loser flips everyone off in the ring, he is "owed" a rematch. Is that like some kind of weird playground rule?

"

One of Diaz's three crappy wins was in Dream, you know the same place where Alvarez smashed top lightweights and that "nobody in Elite's fan base" saw. One of the others was Thomas Denny. The other was when Nick weighed in at 169lb to fight a guy who fights at 145. Saying that was enough to deserve a rematch with a guy he had NOTHING for in the first fight is the joke. If you don't see that you're either trolling or a hopeless idiot. I mean come on. Diaz went like 2-6 on his takedown attempts and KJ just stood right back up when he was taken down. Diaz landed no punches, got dropped, got his face destroyed, and just got all around WORKED.

And lol @ "someone like Nick Diaz". Let's examine his LW record. Win over a hopelessly out of shape Gomi, still a massive win. One-sided loss to KJ. Controverial split decision over Aina (who?). Win over Thomas Denny (lol). Win over Corbrey if you can call it a win when he missed weight by 9lb. That's it. Or do you mean it's his losses at 170 to Riggs, Karo, Diego, Sherk etc at that should have meant he gets a rematch whenever he flips someone off?

I have the strangest feeling that if, say, Randy Couture refused to fight Brock Lesnar, saying he did not deserve the title fight, and instead insisted on fighting Nogueira, you would be all over his nuts and saying "fuck zuffa for trying to make this bullshit matchup in an attempt to shove this fag down our throats". Especially if Brock and Randy had already fought and Randy had tooled him and stopped him in the first round. We both know this is 100% correct.

Nick would smash KJ in a rematch.

BJJkilla - noons won't move up to WW, now noons wants to fight diaz; how surprising.....

He has already said he will fight Diaz at 170.

really? you have a source?

"I don’t have a problem with fighting at 55 or 170 for MMA.”

KJ should stick to boxing, "its where the money is"

piratepirate - "Of course I'm interested down the line,"

Looks like a misleading thread title

yeah, this was far from saying he wanted a rematch, or that he would even sign the contract.

All hate aside - the kid has skills and I give him kudos for coming back to the cage.  I am still sorely dissappointed about the fact that he robbed us (not too mention Nick) of the rematch.  I would be very surprised if that fight ever happens now.

Orcus - you make some valid points, but when you look at the bottom line they amount to jack sh!t.  Alvarez was not asking for the fight at the time - IIRC, he was taking some time off to spend with his new wife.  KJ cited Alvarez being a more worthy opponent and wanting more money (than he originally agreed to).

Every employee has the right to renegotiate their contract for more money as the dynamics of a business relationship change, but no fighter has the right to determine who a top contender for their belt should be.

Did he really want more money, or did he really want to fight Eddie?  No one can say for sure, but it is evident that he wanted no part of a rematch with Nick.

Noons shouldnt even worry about Diaz, they are not even in the same weight class anymore, there are a bunch of good fights for Noons at LW and Nick is doing his thing at 170 and above, maybe down the line if they can build it again, but Noons has great matches at LW for now

Well that because Randy has paid his dues and KJ has 8 fights. And Diaz has much more experience then Lesnar as well. Comparing Randy Couture to KJ Noons is a great comparison Orcus

No but wehn his dad is in the ring and starts running his mouth and does create buzz for a rematch
