Harris on Trump’s SCOTUS Pick: ‘We’re Witnessing the Destruction of the Constitution of the United Sates’
California Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris said there would be the “destruction of the Constitution” if President Donald Trump is allowed to pick the Supreme Court justice to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy, Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews.”
“We’re looking at the destruction of the Constitution of the United States based on all the folks he’s been appointing thus far for lifetime appointments,” Harris told Matthews on Wednesday night.
“If Trump gets what he wants here, what’s the Court going to look like for the next 30 years?” MSNBC host Chris Matthews asked Harris.
“We cannot and will not accept them to serve on the highest court in the land,” said Harris.
“We cannot relent, we’re going to have to fight to the end to make sure that we can do anything and everything that is possible.”
So what, the Democrat's position now is that the President doesn't get to choose a nominee? I bet you that Trump could nominate Obama's pick, Judge Garland, and the left would lose their mind and refuse to confirm him. They would say, "Garland was a moderate pick, meant to replace Saclia, he is unfit to replace Kennedy."
I seriously think if Trump were to re-nominate Garland, the left would refuse to confirm him. In fact, Trump should do it just to make a point. I also don't think Garland was a bad choice, he was pretty moderate, but the optics of the left refusing to nominate the judge that Obama originally put up, would seal the mid-terms for the Republicans. The Democrats would be exposed for being true obstructionsts.
