Kampmann Hoping to Return in Earl

Martin Kampmann was looking to move up the ladder at middleweight this June when he was scheduled to take on Rich Franklin in Ireland. However, those plans were derailed when Kampmann sustained a knee injury in training. The recovery process is moving slowly but surely. "The injury is getting better", comments Kampmann. "But slowly and still a long way to go." The Danish fighter, fighting out of Las Vegas, has begun dabbling in some striking while waiting to gain greater mobility in his kneee. "I've started boxing again, but still no grappling or wrestling yet", explains Kampmann. "Don't have full range of motion in the knee and still lacking muscle, but working on it in rehab."

Kampmann had been on a hot streak in the UFC as he won 3 bouts in a span of 6 and a half months–defeating Crafton Wallace, Thales Leites and Drew McFedries. Sitting on the sidelines hasn't been easy for the 25 year old fighter, and he is aiming to get back into the swing of things early next year. "I hope I can return to fighting in the beginning of the new year", says Kampmann. "I miss it a lot and can't wait."

damn didn't realize it was that serious of an injury....can't wait till he's back

Man I cant wait till this guy gets back, Who was it that he caught in the arm triangle? what a fantastic finish that was!

^^^ it was Drew McFedries, I agree, it was a good finish.

I like Kamppmann. He's a solid fighter.

Especially for as good of a kickboxer he is. I can't wait to see him back in action and dominating the competition.

Wish he was in the mix with Okami, Franklin, A Silva, Marquardt i hope he as a good recovery.

Anyone know the exact injury? He's been out for awhile now. I thought he was dropping to 170 as well?

ttt for a full recovery!

sherdog originally listed it as a left knee hyperextension, not sure exactly of what that might have led to.
