Kanadian MPP speaks truth re: CV, gets booted out.

Why is it that these news articles repeat the same shit over and over? Everything learned from the article is in the first sentence. Then it repeats again and again.

Good move.  Even if we are being overzealous we will be better off if we move together.  I know people are hurting.  I also know there are a lot of people just bitching about wearing a mask. There is lots of government assistance.  Almost everyone is being lenient. We will get through it and we don't want this to be the seeds of division.

There is no "truth" in this.  So caution is warranted.

I live here too and any conservatives I know are pissed at Ford because he’s just going along with the media bullshit to get re-elected. He’s scared of being labeled Canada’s Trump. Only the lefties are scared to go outside. Unless it’s to the walmart or Costco because those are safe places

There is no "truth" in this, so fire anyone who disagrees with the boss's opinion?

Personally I think that lockdowns have been a terrible idea, and I think that hindsight will show that when all the data is tallied up. But worse than that is something like this, where politicians are effectively fired for simply questioning the narrative. The whole point of a democracy is to argue viewpoints.

If the bosses opinion is based on the opinion of experts, and disagreeing with the boss puts lives at risk, then yeah, you're fired.

Translation: I'm not hurting so IDGAF!

Just closed up my fried chicken joint.  I did not qualify for ANY of the programs I mentioned.  My sales went UP, so no rent relief.  I have never made any money, so I don't qualify for income replacement.  As I was not an employee, I don't qualify for EI. I personally am fucked.  No income, savings, credit, assets of any kind.  Only a bunch of unsecured debt.

Just as soon as they get Brampton to care about COVID I'll believe any of their efforts are empiricably effective.

LOL, one of the only guys that works for my company who got covid was an electrician we sent to Brampton to do shift coverage at an extrusion plant there. Picked it up from one of their maintenance staff.

Shocking.

I’m positively flabbergasted.

mike I have to disagree wholeheartedly.

This guy was “elected” by the people

The constituents are his bosses…not Doug Ford.

If the people want him gone… vote him out

Doug Ford should not be overriding the will of the people.

people do things every day that put others lives at risk… and when you walk out the door you are assuming some level of risk.

this lockdown isn’t helping…cases have continued to rise

but it is crushing business.

The lockdowns are the same measures taken in 1918 to battle the Spanish Flu and again in early 2020… Are you telling me that in 100 years we haven’t figured a better way to fight a pandemic than lock down shut business and wear a mask?

we did it in the spring… and here we are a year later… it didnt work then and its not working now

saying the lockdown isn't helping because the numbers are going up is a pretty shallow depth to be thinking. you guys can't stop complaining about these measures but just hang on to the idea that people choose to put themselves at risk and that's their problem as if the people in retirement homes are going out and catching covid or the healthcare workers getting reassigned from their sleepy jobs to treat covid patients are jumping up and down to expose themselves.

Jesus. I know bootlicker gets thrown around as an insult way too often, but that's genuinely the most bootlicking serious response I've ever seen.

Disagreeing doesn't put lives at risk, discussions aren't dangerous. Though if that MPPs point are accurate (and they might be since noone on fords side has rebutted them) then it's Ford's actions that could be costing lives. Absolutely shitty attitude for a grown man to have.

No bootlicker.  No fan of Doug Ford.  I will be glad to see this end.  I am a small business owner who lost everything.

I am proud of the unity and commitment Canadians have shown during this time.

From what I have seen, he is not overriding the will of the people.

Of my friends, family and collegues - which includes teachers, health care workers, and mostly small business owners - only a couple of FB "friends" are complaining about the strategy.  Everyone else is quietly following the guidlines and being kept above water by various government programs (literally except me as me and my business fall through every crack in the support programmes).

You seem calm and respectful.  I think I like you.

A note about businesses going under:  IMO businesses that were strong before, will survive as they are gettng reimbursed by the government based on previous year's sales, and wages are being subsidised.  Business that are failing now are in one of 2 categories:  1) they were not doing well to begin with and this is a good excuse  2) they were just getting started at the start of the shutdown, and so have that disadvantage + no previous sales upon which to base subsidies (me btw) so they don't qualify.

Why would he not listen?  The guy is all about business and opening things up.  This shutdown goes against his basic ideology…and he is STILL backing it.

He’s right. We are sacrificing the young and healthy to save the old and sick.

If my CO assured me that the use of sandbags would arrest the tidal bore on the shores of the Bay of Fundy, I may pass a concern or two up the chain.  We'll see how Doug's strategy plays out for him, he's in a tough spot.
