Karlos Vermola (id give Jon Jones trouble)

I bet you believe dana white too dont you? Shogun has had THREE knee operations. He has returned and lost the following match all three times..........Starting to catch up yet?

Oh jesus...first time dealing with an 11er. Should have known better. Forget it, you are completely right. Jones never having been in trouble for a second in a single fight is completely unimpressive because he hasn't fought "elite" guys. You are totally right and I bow to your knowledge. And Shogun was lying when he said post-fight, "He hits hard, I took a knee shot early on and was out of it the whole fight." Nah, it was totally his bum knee the entire time, not the flying knee he took 5 seconds in.

And once you realize im right you decide to post this passive aggressive bullshit? Why not just admit I was right about his level of competition and have a discussion with me? Instead you just come on here preaching about your god JON JONES and how he can not be touched. Calm down friend, just trying to bring you back down to reality. You can ignore facts all you want and blame it on others "join date" if thats how you feel. Just take the time to go back and read what you posted. Its obnoxious and childish. Not to mention incorrect.

I was wondering where this guy was, since the Petruzelli fight. Looking forward to seeing him again.

iirc he has stubby arms, so JJ would most likely bust him up pretty bad.

He hasn't face anyone that is an elite fighter. Stop sucking his dick before he defends his belt against a "real" fighter. Hes is an incredibly talented athlete and fighter but has yet to be tested. His hardest fight to date? Anybody wanna answer this? STEPHEN FUCKING BONNAR. Yeah, thats right. One of the worse fighters on the UFC's roster gave Jones his hardest contest.

Stop crowning this guy king until he faces someone of elite caliber. Not a scared Ryan Badder that gave up before the fight even started. Not a broke-dick injured Shogun. Not a declining deaf middle weight in Matt hamill.

Like I said before he is talented, but his is not GOD. Ill hold of on crowning him till I see who he has to fight after rampage(going downhill like water).

Just out of curiousity, who do you consider "elite?"  You say Jones must not be that great because he had a tough fight with Bonnar years ago (but still won unanimously).

Is Forrest elite?  Remember he got finished by Jardine and has been KO'd by Rashad and a middleweight Anderson

Is Lyoto elite?  Remember he got finished by the 'obiously not so elite' Shogun and lost to Rampage (who you say shouldn't be fighting Jones)

Is Rashad elite?  Remember he fought Tito to a draw (which Tito obviously won) and was KO'd bad by Lyoto, who again lost to Shogun and Rampage.

Again I ask, who do you consider elite?

Stop putting words in my mouth. Never said jones wasn't elite. I said he was untested against elite competition.

Who do I consider elite? Jones for one(how elite has yet to be determined) shogun(when he is healthy) lyoto, and rashad. The rest of the division is filled with journeyman and gatekeepers with the possible exceptions being Davis and vermola who are both untested against high caliber fighters. Maldinado who should drop to 185lb just because of his small size, and everyones favorite dark horse forrest, who's enormous heart trumps his considerable lack of skills. You can hate on me all you and drink the zuffa kool aid all you want, but the UFC's LHW division is getting alot thinner and starting to look like the HW division did about two years ago.

Now please bash my join date/name/opinion.

While I couldn't disagree more - this guy has the right attitude.
If you don't think you can give the top of the food chain a tough fight then you don't belong on the UFC roster. Simple as that.

While this guy is clearly not the same as Jones, Jon was essentially saying the exact same thing a couple of years ago and people gave him shit for it, too.

You've got to believe in yourself and your abilities.

Vemola will give anybody trouble. He's a fucking animal. Phone Post

Nastydumpster comes off kinda douchey in his post but I think he's on to something - the LHW division is WAY overrated. Jones is great but the fact that he seems so unstoppable and all the top level guys are just the old champs (Rampage, Forrest, Rashad, Shogun, Machida) it really shows the lack of depth in the division. Vermola is quite powerful and athletic but has poor technique in all areas. Making him out to be the next big thing speaks volumes about the division, and there's not much LHW talent outside of the UFC at the moment.

Most stacked divisions right now are BW, FW, and LW, hands down.

epwar - Sadly Vemola won't ever get into title contention because Dana and co. love the Rashad/Shogun/Rampage/Forrest contender merry-go-round.
yeah that crazy merry go round of title shots that zuffa keeps giving those guys...forrest' has had 1, rashad has had 1, rampage has had 1 and shogun has had 2(the 2nd being after a highly controversial decision in his 1st).

my god so many underserving title shots on that merry go round

clearly this guy who is 1-1 in the UFC and has only beat the guy that beat kimbo is being screwed over by the higher ups.  sure he looked beastly vs seth, but how about we wait till he gets above 500 in the UFC and beats somebody in the top 30 at 205 before we talked about him potentially being screwed out of a title shot.  its not like hes getting the machida treatment and has to win 6 straight to get recognized as a contender.

Anyone ever hear that phrase, "arguing on the Internet is like competing in the special olympics?" Phone Post

Nuckin Futs - So now Shogun sucks because Jones tooled him. Got to love this place.

Look at who Dana always says is in title contention.  Same four guys for the past 3 years.  Hell, even Jones got his by luck since Rashad fell out and Rampage turned it down.  And I said "contender merry-go-round," not title shot merry-go-round.

nastydumpster -
epwar - LOL!  So we're going to the "Shogun was injured" excuses?  He said he was in top form after a year away and Jones absolutely mauled him.

Ignore everything else I said right? He was injured and if you started watching MMA at are around the time you sighed up here you would realize that. I submit the shogun forrest fight into evidence. He had just come off of the SAME knee surgery for that fight as well. See how that turned out? And jones is a little bit better than forrest.
LOL dude, stop making excuses. Everyone fights injured, Shogun is no different. It must have been the worst injury ever, because he was never even in the fucking Jones fight. He got absolutely destroyed the entire time.

Face it, he came in all hyped up, got slapped around and strangled by Forrest and then he was taken to the breaking point, 32 seconds away from losing to Coleman. He then smashed a clearly out of prime Chuck, lost a (bullshit) decision to Machida, then KO'd Machida in a very impressive feat in the rematch. After a string of 3 solid fights, he then get brutalized and now it's back to the Forrest-era injury excuse shit? Come on.

Jones is a total monster and would beat Shogun 9 out of 10 times. Wanna talk about something that can hinder you? Okay, Jones is a 23 year old kid who dealt with the stress and anxiety of a #1 contender bout, only to find out he has less than 6 weeks to train and prepare for a title shot against freaking Shogun Rua. He was dealing with all the new fame, interviews, meet and greets, big sponsorship deals and all that out of nowhere and still accepted a very short-notice fight (for a title bout that is) against a true veteran and he went out there and demolished him. Give him his props, if Shogun is so injured then drop out of the fight, hang 'em up, do something because fighting injured is a part of the sport.

For everyone debating his toughest test, look to the Andre Gusmao fight please. That was undoubtedly his toughest test.

Beating Rampage when he's not coming off a one year lay off will be the true test so far for Jones.  The only time Rampage has looked bad is when he's come off of long lay offs.  Jones will not walk through Rampage.  I don't think anybody can walk through Rampage.  He will get tested and if he passes then I think it's safe to say Jones could have a long run at the top...but beating Hamill, Vera, Bader, and a rusty Shogun coming off knee surgery isn't enough to put him in GSP/Anderson's class.

op = whack

Johnonguitar -
WhiteGorilla - man, some fighters just seem to be so out of touch with reality

No one @ 205 is gonna give jones any trouble for a while

hes the anderson/GSP/BJ of his division for now. its his time

IMO, the way to give jon jones trouble is to be 6'6 240lbs, make the cut to 205, then match his skill set.
Because he made Matt Hamill look crap, Brandon Vera look useless and made a rehabbing Shogun look out of shape?

Jump the gun much? Phone Post

He said that he could tap Shogun before the fight, and this place went apeshit. It made the ending even funnier.

You do realize that the "elite" version of Shogun who KO'd Machida had had surgery 8 weeks before the fight and had a torn ligament in his knee. Shogun and his camp all said that he was in much better shape going into the Jones fight, but I guess that facts don't jive with your Jones hate.
