A healthy Karo is a dangerous Karo.
Interesting.
I talked to Karo for about 90 minutes last week for a (possibly two-part ) story that should be out this week . He sounds like he's got his shit together.
I interviewed him for his UFC.com stories the week before his last two fights in the Octagon and he sounds 100% different than he did then. Calm, focused and clear-headed.
When he was in Toronto last summer for the MMA Expo he was 174. He's up to 185-190 again.
Ford may be in trouble.
I've never been a fan but you hate to see a guy fade away like that very odd. That being said I'm not so sure I'd want to fight this guy without testing.
Testing for what?
Pain killers. Isn't that what he was positive for in the Stun Gun fight?
How the would painkillers give you an advantage? Have you ever taken them? They make you slow and lethargic if anything.
They also make you less susceptible to pain.
Get out.
Like, get out Elaine from Seinfeld get out?
Karo is an unproven commodity as of late. If he can return to his ways he'll be gold, jerry, gold.
Nice Dougie!
Karo's got skills for days but I think the story is what does this do for Ford's career if he gets the win?
1armedScissor - They also make you less susceptible to pain.
lol, so take some painkillers prior to a fight so that you don't feel a hit as much?
Until I actually see him preform in the ring, I am going to believe that he is still a mess.
I'll be taking Ford come fight night.

BEEP!
Phil999 -probably be more effective in mitigating the effects of certain submissions. with the other side effects though it's clearly not an optimal route to take if you want to actually perform well and win the fight, but it's pretty easy to see why they are frowned upon by any athletic comission.1armedScissor - They also make you less susceptible to pain.

They're frowned upon because they dull the reflexes making it much more likely that a fighter is going to get hurt or knocked out. If you've ever been on painkillers you know why they say you shouldn't drive or operate heavy machinery while taking them. You're basically a numb zombie. They are by no means classified as a performance enhancing drug, the same as alcohol and cannabis aren't. You aren't allowed to be under the influence of them because of the disadvantage you would be at safety-wise.

There's a certain violent dude from Stockton...

Mike, you may want to research this a bit more.
The World Anti-Doping Agency defines Painkillers under the heading of performance enhancing drugs.
In order to not derail this thread, check out the movie "The Smashing Machine" for details on addiction to painkillers including Morphine. It is a horrible addiction and Karo should be supported for having beat the addiction.
