Katja “Killer Bunny” Kankaanpää Announces Retirement

Katja Kankaanpää has announced her retirement from mixed martial arts. “Yesterday’s match will be my last one.” posted Killer Bunny on Facebook today as she plans her return back home to Finland. Kankaanpää was on the losing end of a controversial decision last night at Invicta FC 14 in the co-main event versus DeAnna Bennett.

The former 125-pound champion lost her last two bouts, but was competing at the top level. She lost her title back at Invicta FC 12 in April at the hands of Livia Renata Souza.

The high-level grapler record will remain at 10 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw in her career. The fighter out of Seinajoki, representing Botnia Punishment’s only other loss since turning pro back in 2010 was to UFC contender Joanne Calderwood at Invicta FC 7 in 2013.

Kankaanpää lead women’s MMA in the Nordics, putting Finland specifically on the map with her capturing the Invicta FC world title last year with an amazing 5th round brabo choke over Stephanie Eggink.

“Now it’s time to take it a bit easier. I will write more specifically about this once I’ve returned to Finland. Thank you for all the support I’ve received from all of you.” continues the 34 year old in her farewell message.

"Sharp pointy teeth!"

Pretty sure her title was at 115. Phone Post 3.0
