                    <blockquote>

“The problem that I’m running into is the fact that I can’t get enough fights,” Shamrock said during a recent episode of “The Savage Dog Show” on the Sherdog Radio Network.

“It’s hard enough for a guy in his prime to jump right into a fight, let alone somebody of my age, who needs to be in there and actually take a little bit longer to prepare for a fight. To have that long off and then go into a fight like with a Pedro Rizzo, who has fought three times prior to me fighting him … . So I have to get more fights and I’ve got to be busier. That way I can be able to use the things that I have and be able to get that timing in the ring that I need to be successful.”

“The money wasn’t there, and there wasn’t enough organizations around that could pay that kind of money. All day long you could get fights for $1,200 or $5,000, but you’re not going to get them for anymore than that. They’re just not there.”

“I’m going to be able to fight a lot more often under a contract I’ll have with (King of the Cage), and I’ll be able to get paid.”

The 17-year veteran of professional MMA acknowledged that he’s had a rough couple of years. In addition to struggling inside the cage, he lost a contract dispute with the UFC in April and was ordered to pay the company $175,000 in legal fees.

ken vs. batista

He should get a win over Ivey, then retire.

Ken deserves to go out with a win.

But damn.. I'm one of his biggest fans.. but seriously, its over.

Go to Japan Ken!

Shammy should have thought this 17 years ago... its a little late now bubba!

Ftw_Gmb - TTT for a legend that deserves our respect, if ken wants to keep fighting then I'll keep supporting. Everyone shits on ken because he is losing fights as if that makes is a bad person.

I agree, and I will always root for Ken.

But at some point the stuborness has to stop. Dont get me wrong, I respect the shit out of Ken, and the fact he wants to keep fighting..

But if he would have retired after the Kimo fight, his legacy would still be one of the greatest fighters ever.

Now, after the losses.. The TRUTH is that he is still one of the greatest fighters ever..

But the opinions of the ignorent masses dont reflect that.

Its sad really.

Dr Violence - Go to Japan Ken!

Yeah, I don't understand why this hasn't happened.   It's hard to believe Dream or Sengoku wouldn't give him shot.  I'd like to see him in there with James Thompson, Gary Goodridge, or Fujita.   Maybe even a Saku rematch.

I always wanted to see Ken vs Coleman too.

Holy shit! I just realized that The Situation from Jersey Shore is a Ken Shamrock clone! Blue namer please hook this up! lol

I havent seen Shamrock fight in any of his matches since about 2001.

Ken Shamrock Vs. Wanderlai Silva would be an awesome fight.

LOL, how do you figure that? Ken is completely washed up, Wandy is not. Did you see Ken's last fight against Rizzo? He should not be allowed to fight anymore.

I'd be hesitant to bet on Ken vs a Wing Chun wooden dummy these day.

As opposed to an '08 member?

LOL

Show me where one thing I said is not true. Ken is a danger to himself, and the reputation of the sport if he keeps fighting.

He actually didnt look bad considering Rizzo is one of the best strikers ever.

Why he was going toe 2 toe with Rizzo is the question.

To be sure, Ken has good standup.

But "good" standup isnt good enough for the best strikers.

Ken should have never gotten away from his grappling. I also think he would give Rizzo problems in the clinch.

Latley Ken is acting like a brawler, which would be fine in the smaller shows, hed probably win every fight. But, (with the exception of Clifton), Ken continues to fight credible opponets. And his chin is not what it used to be.

He really needs to get this next win, which I think he will, and then hang it up.

My God this trolling.

Ken Shamrock - I haven't been fighting enough.

I think most fans are under the impression that he has fought entirely too much in the past few years.

LOL.. says you!

Your just another mindless Ken hater who doesnt really know MMA.

If you read my first post, I did say Ken should have retired after the Kimo rematch.

So my analysis is based on a Ken that I agree should not be fighting anymore.

However, since he is so stubborn, and continues to fight, I voiced my educated opinion based on that.

LMAO, I think this is the second, maybe third time Ive ever been called a troll here.

You guys don't get it. This isn't about Ken retiring with a good win or to maintain some legend image...the man is broke and owes 6 figures in back taxes. This is all he has... Phone Post

I agree with this completely. The guy has always had an ego issue and the need to prove himself just look at his He-Man build. At best he is a leg lock specialist that can crank off your leg if you let him attach himself there within the first minute of the fight. For him to be bashing it out the way he has for the last 10 years is ridiculous. More entertaining, yes, but ineffectual for him as a fighter.

What I would like to know is how an icon like Shamrock can't support himself fighting these days.
