kettlebells, comrade

I just ordered 2 16kg 'bells and am gonna give the RKC book a go ... anyone here training with them and can offer advice or opinions ...

I've been doing a lot of dumbbell complexes lately but wanted to add the kettlebells in for some fun fun!!

Oh too many to even mention! You're gonna have fun with those. :)

I love kettlebells. I have two 24kg's, two 32kg's and a single 12kg. You can cover pretty much everything with them in regards to training. I'm going to throw mine around today now..

IT'S GETTING OUT OF CONTROL!!!!

GETTING OUT OF CONTROL!!!! ????its already out of control....THIS IS KETTTTTLLLLLLEBEEELLLLLSS (sits down after hitting himself in head with overexuberent swing...wakes up wondering why he has 24kg imprinted backwards on his forhead)

The best motivator to develop a death grip on your bells is working them inside your tile-floor house and having your wife giving you the evil eye cause she's gonna whack you over the head with the ten pound frying pan if you drop one and shatter her beautifully kept floor!!

LMAO @ shoe and ILVQLOS!!!

Hey 4 Ranges, you're Hispanic right? See if you can figure out my screen name.

I finally got my pair of 24kgs and was doing a few complexes in my living room the other day, next to my computers, glass coffee and end tables, and TV and little bro's Xbox. That's some grip training right there! The kettlebell revolution is rolling on full force!

ILVLQOS:

My friend, I'm Filipino. I haven't the foggiest what your screename means. :(

"Cracks me up that people talk about working out with 50 pound implements as if it's hardcore."

50lbs. is a puny weight...depending on the exercise.

It's "light" if you're you're using it for floor presses.

However, it's hard to find an exercise more "hardcore" than pressing a 50lbs. weight...with your pinky. Try it. Film it. Let the forum see it. THEN tell us it's not hardcore. :)

A different structure for a weighted object can shift how "heavy" something is..... clubbells generally don't exceed 45 lb.s (lighter than even the mid size kbs), which is plenty of tension for most people.

It also seems that nobody buys a kettlebell and treats it like a dumbell; they learn a whole new set of exercises (for many people they're new, i guess, if not for everybody) in exhaustive detail, they set up their programs differently, and they take a whole new approach to exercise. Generally, this shift in approach pays off pretty big.

imo, 50 lb.s can be pretty hardcore, depending on how you use it and what you hope to accomplish.

I feel a barbell is a better tool for max strength, but you can certainly get pretty strong just using kbs (though progressively harder exercises or resistance is sort of mandatory for steady strenght gains...).

I just got my kettlebells friday and am pretty impressed so far - jesus, they seem heavier than the 35 lbs they are. I'm following the enter the kettlebell work book routines right now, lots of wall squats, halos, swings to start out.

I couldnt resist the urge to try some cleans and snatches and only succeeded in beating my forearms up, I just can't seem to get the movement right at the end of the clean. practice makes perfect , i guess

Hey cbgrappler,

It really depends what exercises, and if it's one or two kettlebells. Based on your tone, it seems only reasonable to infer that you could do just about anything with one or two 50lbs kettlebells... However, I find this impossible to believe.
