Residents of the Dagestan village of Kirovul, where they buried Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, father of the current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, supported the renaming of the village in honor of the deceased trainer. This was reported by TASS, referring to a representative of the press service of the administration of Kizilyurt district.
“According to the appeal of the residents of the village of Kirovaul, the head of the Kizilyurt district Magomed Shabanov held a meeting on the possibility of changing the name of the rural settlement in memory of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. The discussion was attended by the head of the village of Kirovul Ilyas Khaziev, the deputy corps of the district and the elders of the village, as well as the athletes of the region.
Magomed Shabanov indicated that the relevant lists of documents on renaming the village of Kirovaul to Manap will be prepared and sent to the government and the People’s Assembly of Dagestan for approval, ”the source said.
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, 57, was hospitalized at the 2nd Makhachkala City Hospital with bilateral pneumonia at the end of April 2020, and later he was diagnosed with coronavirus. On May 3, he was delivered to Moscow on a special plane. On May 13, it became known that Nurmagomedov was in serious condition in one of the military hospitals in Moscow. July 3, 2020 he died in Moscow.
