I want to get behind Khabib but I just don't feel like he's that into MMA. Highly unreliable and puts things like Ramadan before the sport.
I cant buy what he's selling.
He should put Ramadan before the sport.
He really shouldn't.
No, he really should. He feels as if his spirituality should come first.............then he absolutely 100% without a doubt should POSITIVELY put it first.
Maybe if he didn't get injured all the time. Coupled with his injuries, Ramadan basically makes him unavailable to work for the UFC.
Maybe his life priorities don't have "working for the UFC" at the top. Thats my point. He is making that his priority; then he is doing the right thing. It might not be the best thing for fans and the organization (and maybe his camp too) but if thats in the order of his priorities.............then he's doing the right thing.
ok, if his faith comes first, then he why keep competing at this point. He has fought once a year since 2014 and he's not even champion. You can do that if you're an Anderson Silva or GSP (prime), but he isn't even a champ. First injury after injury, and now he has to go to the hospital for a bad weight cut, which isn't good for your kidneys. This new weight cut won't get any easier for Khabib, he's a big dude for 155 and cutting weight will only become tougher as he nears 30. I'd guess. Maybe he should go to 170 and he'll stop breaking down.

I agree with your explanation of his priorities and that's why I can't get behind him as a fighter.
He's more bothered about pleasing a potential God than winning the strap.
His priorities are for him to decide and we can all respect that.
I don't see it this way but I can see and understand your feelings about not getting behind him as a fighter. I'm not religious in a traditional way but I agree with the way he follows the priorities that he set for himself. I can see where the way he lives his life can be frustrating to fans.
GTFOOHWTBS - Khabib..the next Fedor. Fedor in that he has the potential to be the GOAt but poor managerial team and outside commitments will relegate him to gatekeeper status in Bellator.
C'mon man, gatekeeper in Bellator? He doesn't fight much but when he does, he looks damn near unbearable. Maybe outside circumstances will derail his career entirely but you are finishing his ability for sure
He's throwing away the prime years of his life is what I'm saying. He'll soon be washed up like Fedor and wouyld have all these "what if" scenarios for fights if he doensn't start showing up to fight more than once a year.

Its might be something he loves, but it's also a job that he can't manage to do consistenly over the past 3 years.

He's making a living in the sport and he's not done yet. Do you believe it's his religious beliefs that are keeping him from fighting?

Khabib does make an interesting point, they where to fight twice now, Khabib got sick the day before and had to pull out, and Tony pulled out last time like 10 days before the fight, maybe not as egregrious as Khabib's dilemma, but at the end of the day they each have pulled out once from fights with each other, yet the UG acts like it's only Khabibl pulling out
Classic UG fogged up lenses
Injuries are one thing, missing weight is another. You can't blame Tony for getting injured unless he was doing something irresponsible to get injured. You can blame Khabib for not making weight though. He could have avoided it with a more responsible approach.

I'm pretty sure you can find videos of Tony doing something irresponsible to get injured.
