Khabib wasn’t that good

BJ Penn Defended his title more times, and jumped up a weight class and ran over Matt Hughes In his prime. Da Bronx is going to leave a better legacy as well. Khabib chose to not test himself against certain fighters, specifically ground specialists. He never tried to test the limits of his abilities like the greats and I don’t think we should be put him on a Pedestal for it.

Khabib’s last 3 wins at LW were Conor, Dustin, then Justin

That’s a damn good trio of title defenses. Al Iaquinta was a good win too

We all love BJ Penn but let’s not pretend khabib isn’t right there with him

He was quite good. RDA’s title reign reflects very well on him. But we all saw him struggle against the likes of Gleison Tibau and have to wonder how he would have fared against a top wrestler.

He was.

He just left early.

You don’t get credit for potential. In regards to what he accomplished, he should never be mentioned with the greatest of all time.

Penn is not even a top 10 lightweight goat but it has proven to be impossible to convince some of you BJ nuthuggers so I will just let it rest.

As for Khabib he is clearly the LW goat right now. He was unstoppable

BJ is either the greatest LW champion of all time or the 2nd.

He was unstoppable because he never tried. Only great in theory, never in actual accomplishments.

Semantics maybe be he only has 2-3 defenses? Same with Khabib thigh for defenses in terms of GOAT LW “champ.” But BJ is still the top 3 LW GOATS, Charles is closing in.

The opponents in Oliveiras win streak are arguably a better resume alone than Khabibs whole career. Khabib isn’t even the discussion, and if he’d stayed, this version of Charles would have finished him

Everyone except Samoa is on one extreme hyperbole spectrum or the other. Typical UG.

What hyperbole did I use? Or did you just make that statement to show you know big words?

Bj is a 500 fighter,Early in his career he was the best no doubt. He ended his career with 7 straight losses Khabib is 29-0 and still could come back and beat everyone in the division let’s get real love him or hate him he’s levels ahead

Khabib took almost zero damage and never lost a round. Retired rich and famous with no CTE. I’d call that a perfect career.

who gives a shit how good khabib was? moat of his fights were absolute snoozers and i had zero motivation to purchase his pay per views

good riddance to that goat fucker.

Why is everyone making this about BJ? This isn’t a pro BJ argument. I’m just saying in terms of accomplishments BJ has more and Charles is right there as well. If we are debating the greatest of all time, Khabib should not be in the picture. I feel it still helps my point if you think BJ wasn’t good, because he has a bigger trophy case. What does that say about Khabib?

Fightmatrix has Khabib at #1 and BJ at #2 for all-time lightweight, but BJ slightly above Khabib for “all-time absolute”, which are “the sum of the fighter’s accomplishments in all divisions”.

Khabib was boring. He became champ at a weak time in LW history.
