Khabib will be the GOAT Lightweight

Just rewatching his highlights... man... I don't think anyone will ever stop him. Even his striking is severely underrated. The guy has some vicious power and unorthodox striking and people don't give him credit for it.

Khabib Nurmagomedov | Dagestan, Russia

-22-0 record in MMA (7 knockouts, 8 submissions)

- 6-0 record in UFC

- Judo black belt

- 2012 NAGA Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion (Black Belt Division)

- Russian National Champion In Freestyle Wrestling

- 2x Combat Sambo World Champion

- Combat Sambo Russian National Champion

- European Pankration Champion

- European Army Champion in Hand-to-Hand Combat

-International Master of Sports in Sambo

- International Master of Sports in Pankration

- International Master of Sports in Hand-to-Hand Combat

- Began Freestyle Wrestling at age of 5 with his father (Sambo Champion and Judo black belt under Olympic Gold Medalist, Vladimir Nevzorov)

- Not only trained with humans, but also used Grizzly Bears as training partners for his Freestyle Wrestling while growing up.

- Undefeated in all combat sports

- Holds the UFC takedown record in a single fight (even beating GSP)

- Trains at TWO camps, in the US and in Russia: AKA and Red Fury Fight Team

- Wrestling is very elite, his main training partners are heavyweights (Daniel Cormier and Cain Velasquez)

- Cain Velasquez has commented that Khabib is best talent at AKA

- Joe Rogan has said that Khabib Nurmagomedov is the best wrestler in all of MMA

- Extremely well rounded, has 7 KO victories and 8 submission victories.

- Unorthodox striking with vicious power and vicious ground and pound

- Fantastic submission skills, outgrappled every blackbelt hes fought on the ground.

We are talking about a guy who literally mauled the current challenger for the belt... (althought Khabib was #1 ranked, him being injured didnt allow him to be the contender)

Just look at the stats for his fight with RDA:

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Rafael dos Anjos
Striking:
- Khabib (97 significant strikes) | Rafael (56 significant strikes)

Ground and Pound:
- Khabib (21 significant strikes) | Rafael (1 significant strike)

Takedowns:
- Khabib (6/6 - 100%) | Rafael (0% - on all attempts)

Guard Passes:
- Khabib (6 guard passes) | Rafael (0 guard passes)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just look at those stats... and remember... RDA just KOd Bendo and destroyed Diaz....
- Khabib not only outwrestled him, but he ragdolled him... those takedowns were slams, throws and him carrying RDA around
- Khabib outstruck him almost double (another reason why Khabib's striking is very underrated)
- Khabib easily passed his guard several times... and RDA is a REALLY GOOD black belt in BJJ
- This fight was just months ago

I mean, if Khabib can beat up the challenger for the title that badly...  and the fact that Khabib is only 26 years old and improves and gets better in EVERY fight.... what does that say about him?

Khabib Nurmagomedov has that X factor... and we are all lucky we get to see the rise of what I know will be the greatest lightweight of all time. There is no way Pettis can survive against Khabib once Khabib gets a hold of him.

No other lightweight can outwrestle Khabib at this point. He has just gotten too good. He was already good... but started training at AKA after his fight with Tibau and has significantly improved since and hes only getting better.

Ladies and gentlemen, this man is going to capture the gold and he is gonna keep it for a looooooooooooong time. Wrestling dominates, and Khabib will not be stopped. We are witnessing the rise of the greatest lightweight of all time. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

KHABIB vs RDA

If he fights Pettis I have Anthony winning by finish.

Danny Castillo is the only viable challenger left for the prison rules title. Pettis KOed him last time, but when Danny fights under prison rules, he just flips the switch man.

Theres a difference. Lay n pray is thrown areound too often.

Jon Fitch = lay n pray (takedown + sit in guard)

Khabib Nurmagomedov = exciting takedown specialist (throws, slams, carries + vicious ground and pound, repeat)

HueHueBR - I don't think the UFC will enjoy the idea of having a Champion unavailable one month every year... He already passed on a #1 fight with Bendo because of the Ramadan... I'm sure he got on the bad side of UFC ever since. Phone Post 3.0

Hes injured... but already training again and he was next in line and he offered to fight Pettis in May... (he is not allowed to start intense training camp till end of February, so another 4 weeks)

Pettis declined so UFC gave him RDA instead... Pettis's reasoning was that he didnt wanna wait that extra 6-8 weeks for his fight.

In my opinion, Pettis knows Khabib will take the gold from him and he is just prolonging his reign as champ. He will beat RDA.

If Pettis truly wanted to fight the best he would have waited for the best.

And remember, for the longest time the UFC could not find him an opponent. Remember that few month absense before he got injured when Dana was all pissed off because everyone was refusing to fight Khabib? They spent like almost 2 months trying to figure out an opponent for him and everyone would decline and fight someone else, so everyone was booked and no one was left for Khabib to fight.

Then Ramadan happened,

then injury happened

Talk about OP having a man crush.

IMO, Pettis will crush that man.

So Pettis gets injured then does TUF and everyone is getting on his case for being out so long.

Now you want him to wait to prove he wants to fight the best?
While Khabib is the one being out for a lengthy time?

Doesn't make sense. Pettis is the champ so he shouldn't have to wait for anyone.

john fitch's GNP vs BJ Penn and Eric Silva was more ferocious than anything khabibs done.

Pettis should wait for the biggest challenge, and Khabib being ranked #1 was that challenge.

So as a champion, Pettis needs to wait to fight the best, otherwise itll only seem like hes avoiding the best... i mean its only an extra 6 weeks.

and now the UFC has put RDA above Khabib as soon as the fight got announced.. obviously of course for marketing purposes.. why have the champ fight the #2 guy instead of the #1? lets bump him to #1 so we can make a cool promo and sell this fight, despite the fact that the current #1 guy beat the #2 guy a few months ago, but its ok we will put the #2 guy ahead of him!

Lots of fighters are muslim and do ramadan, its never really an issue.. Before Ramadan, it wasnt Khabib's fault no one wanted to fight him... and after Ramadan, it wasnt his fault he got injured.

Pettis did TUF as a choice, making people like Khabib and RDA wait longer...

Khabib is not choosing to be injured, it just happens.

If u recall, UFC was signing Khabib vs Melendez (while Pettis was on the shelf, and the winner was supposed to fight Pettis)... Khabib agreed to it and Melendez declined to fight Khabib because he wanted more than 8 weeks to train for a guy like Khabib... which makes no sense since the standard training camp is 8 weeks long.. So instead, Melendez shelved himself to wait for Pettis.... and then they did TUF which just delayed things

had Melendez fought Khabib, there would have been no TUF, and Khabib vs Pettis would have happened if Khabib got by Melendez... before Khabib got injured...

And Melendez would have likely fought RDA after losing to Khabib
