Finally got the chance to watch Kiko Live on the weekend. Los Lobos play through the full album track by track, interspersed with interviews with the band and the recording engineers. Highly recommended for fans of the band, or of great musicianship and songwriting in genera.

Man I didn't even know about this DVD. And I don't remember if I knew about the tour. These songs sound great. It's probably my 2nd favorite Los Lobos album! (Well... y'know... I have to be contrarian to all the critics).
That tight rhythm sound Hidalgo has just opening "Dream in Blue" slays me. What a great opening to the concert.
I've seen these guys twice, but then it was back-when it was just the five of them, Louie Perez still playing drums. All of them trading instruments just to show they could... good times. Great songs, all, here. Thanks for pointing it out!
My 2nd favorite as well, unfortunately Colossal head wasnt' as well received. It's a great concert. Hidalgo, as always, is just unreal.
I've seen them about 5 times, last time they came through town was with Neil Young and tickets were in the $100 range. WTF?

What did you think of Tin Can Trust?
I think Tin Can Trust and Acoustic En Vivo are my favorite things since "Colossal Head". I maybe should keep that provisional, but I didn't find a bunch of the later records to draw me in (as albums -- they all have some great moments). Maybe the light bulb will go off suddenly for some of the interim recordsd. Those, though, I think are very strong.

I pretty much agree, a lot of their later catalog falls into the 'middle of the road' category for me, but every album has at least one or two moments of brilliance.
Skipped the Disney album completely, though I'm sure it was fine. Overall I think I like The Town and the City more than Tin Can Trust, though it probably deserves another couple of listens. The title track is awesome, Jupiter on the Moon, Do the Murray, and the requisite Cumbia are all great. The rest sort of slip my mind.
I was a bit disappointed with The Ride and Ride This, probably expecting too much.
Not from that video, but another performance of one of my faves of theirs (from Kiko) - "Saint Behind the Glass".

Beautiful. I didn't realize how many of their songs Louie wrote. One of the highlights of that albums is the melody Hidalgo sings during the chorus of Two Jane. Over that chord, it goes right to the soul. Sorry, can't find a good live clip. The Lobos aren't well represented on youtube.
