                    <blockquote>

A significant moment in mixed martial arts history seems to have passed with little notice Saturday night: Kim Winslow became the first woman ever to be in the Octagon during a UFC fight when she refereed the undercard bout between Nick Osipczak and Frank Lester at the Ultimate Fighter Finale.

The UFC does not hire its own referees and instead goes through the state sanctioning bodies, and the Nevada State Athletic Commission appointed Winslow to work Saturday night, without any fanfare. Winslow just showed up and did her job without drawing any attention to herself, as referees always should.

Congrats to her...

Much respect...

who was the female boxing judge?

PAGrappler412 - who was the female boxing judge?

Who was it, Adelade Bird or something?

I wouldnt.

"I'M A FUCKIN SOLDIER!!!"

It was weird for a referee to have a high-pitched voice during the Lester prelim fight but she can't do anything about it.

I'm not a fan

Yes, I realize what I'm about to say is a dickhead thing to say but, who cares.  I hope she ref's a Gilbert Yvel fight!

ttt for Kim Winslow!!

TTT We're happy to have her July 10th!

Congrats to her for making it out of that hell hole of a household and childhood in the Winslow manner.

Good for her.

She's not even hot...

She is going to one of the refs for the IRAQ show! Working with the Armed Forces Entertainment and the Pentagon. She did my last show on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune--she's super cool and a HUGE supporter of the TROOPS!!

It is good news in my in opinion that this was not really news at all

I was actually shocked when I saw her in the UFC.  It just doesn't seem like a woman belongs in the cage with two fighters trying to take each other heads off?  I give her props for stepping in there, but say, what if a fighter doesn't stop fighting on the referee's comand?  Is she really going to be able to protect the fighter that is unable to protect himself?  Anything can happen in MMA and its a heavy duty of the ref to look out for the fighters safety.  I do not believe Kim Winslow would be physically able to stop a fight, but thats just my opinion.  I also care deeply for safety of Women, whether they want to do the job or not.

She is not a very good ref. She has reffed some of our guys in the past and I am not a fan.

Also, on a much more annoying note she can take about 20 minutes to explain every single rule to every fighter. Very annoying and seems to be a little power tripish.
