There is no reason to believe that Kimbo will have any significant success in MMA. He has no background in any of the component skill-sets. He is an ex-high school football player who lost his scholarship at a university and then washed out of college altogether---failing even to resume his football career at a junior college.
This is not a guy with above-average drive or commitment, as evidenced by his quitting football. Bas is an excellent trainer, but will only be able to do so much with Kimbo. The fact is that, after 2 years, Kimbo still looks like a brawler with no ground game. It would be great for EliteXC to put Kimbo in non main-event fights, because people will still watch him; but he's not likely to progress much more as a fighter.
