Kimbo Slice vs. Sean Gannon - Oct 4th?

Three names keep popping up as the next opponent for Kimbo Slice on Oct. 4: Brett Rogers, Ken Shamrock and ... wait for it ... Sean Gannon.

Rogers is the undefeated heavyweight prospect who called Slice's performance in May against James Thompson "embarrassing." The subsequent back-and-forth bickering between the two at the post-fight press conference seemed exactly the sort of thing CBS wants for its prime-time cards: an interesting storyline.

The feeling among Elite XC execs, however, is that it's better to hold off on a Rogers-Slice showdown for fear that its cash cow, Kimbo, would lose, and thereby extinguish his marketability and the organization's potential pay-per-view debut.

Shamrock would fit nicely -- he hasn't made it out of the opening round since 2005 -- but it appears Elite XC is having trouble getting the deal worked out.

And so, that leaves Gannon, a Boston police officer who defeated Slice in the most famous of the Miami street brawler's underground fight videos. If you'll recall, the UFC tried to capitalize on the YouTube-famed fight by signing Gannon in 2005, but Branden Lee Hinkle pounded him out in less than a round. Since then, Gannon has sat on the sidelines flirting with a big payday and a chance to rematch Slice on a larger stage.

CBS would be the largest.

At this point, unfortunately, signs are pointing to Gannon. The story works for CBS -- it's an easy sell and Kimbo shouldn't face much of a threat. It's perfect all around. That is, unless you think circus fights have no place in MMA, particularly in front of six million viewers.

If you ask me, I'd pit Rogers against Slice. It's not a terrible thing for the popular brawler to walk into a fight as an underdog. If he loses, well, he loses. We've seen Brock Lesnar bounce back from a loss.)The upside is Rogers would immediately become a known commodity as he'd remain undefeated. Plus, Elite XC would possess a credible challenger for its heavyweight champion, Antonio Silva.

Continuing to provide Slice with guys to beat up on won't help him or Elite XC in the long run. But regardless, Elite XC and Kimbo get one more pass. After this, no matter if it's Shamrock or Gannon, Slice has to fight someone real.

Wow, probably the biggest payday that Sean Gannon could ever hope to get, EVER!

ttt

the UG needs to pettition for this fight to happen. it was the UG's crazed interest in setting up this fight that helped propelled Kimbos popularity.

I would love to see the Cannon beat him down again and get a HUGE payday in doing so.

Whoever it it, they'd better get it done soon.  It doesn't look like they are gonna make it past the end of the year, unfortunately.

^^^^^LMAO. That's so fucking ridiculous to see every time. Those are more lenient standing counts than fucking boxing. Guy gets multiple standing 30 to a minute counts! LOL.

I always wondered if Kimbo and his crew paid up when this fight was over. They gave Kimbo multiple chances to get up and continue to fight.  A 30-count? Geebuz Grist.

People root for this guy but can't stand TUF fighters?? Get real.

I just hope that nothing is ever written about me in a national magazine which describes another man having "pounded me out in under a minute".

Avoiding that is the only reason I haven't bothered to become famous.

I'd love to see Sean give him another beatdown, but I suspect this one will end differently. Kimbo has been competing and training full-time, Sean has not.

i love it, it looks like two Rhinos trying to have sex!

I love Gannons Naga shirt too.  Somewhere Kipp Kollar is still shaking his head!

The fight with Gannon makes perfect sense, but I wonder if CBS will even acknowledge that Sean already beat Kimbo. That would kind of tarnish Kimbo's aura of unstoppable street fighter. Even though it may not be "good for the sport", they should bill it as convict vs cop.

cop?

Most of Kimbo's fans have seen his Youtube fights, and the Gannon fight is by far his most watched fight. I'm pretty sure that every Kimbo fan knows about the Gannon loss already.

I just hope the ref doesn't break it up because of Gannon throwing knees.

It would make for a good fight.

There is no way Gannon is going to stand a chance against the MMA trained Kimbo Slice.

He could barely handle Kimbo when Kimbo didn't know ANYTHING except punch, punch punch...

Do you guys remember Gannon's face at the end of the fight?

Gannon posts here, and I hope he sees this thread, and it inspires him to train as if his life depended on it.

Otherwise, he is simply going to get a big fat losers check, and pay off some bills....

Note: Big Fat Loser's check means the check is big and fat....Not Gannon....

Although some intense cardio would NOT hurt Gannon at all.

I thought Kimo was a possible opponent?

Isnt Gannon in law inforcement? Im not sure if his employer would approve of another fight.I could be wrong.

Gannon and Kimbo may not be top notch fighters, but it would entertaining and interesting fight to watch. In their one and only fight to date, Kimbo tried to cheat in every possible way and still lost.
