It's actually a fairly logical progression to his MMA career. First he fought a nobody, then a has been, now a journeyman. If he continues to win, throw him a top ten or ex champ, then he's in the mix.
If he was to get a title shot, people would complain he didn't earn it. He's earning it.

It's the dude's 3rd fight. James Thompson is a very good opponent for someone who is on their 3rd fucking fight.
He's being hyped as the greatest thing since white bread (rereads lol). Someone who fights in boatyards and fought cans is not a main event or a good ambassador to the sport. People who are watching the sport for the first time, watch an event then google clownboy and what is the first thing they see on the net ..... a fight in a frigging boatyard. What type of opinion are they gong to have? Wait until some BS group with nothing better to do get a wild hair in their ass and check into this. A whole bunch of bad pr once again. Now, is he really good for mma? He's being put out on the stroll by his pimp manager who cares less about mma.

LoL @ the white bread thing, well played sir. But he's being hyped because he was already a big name before he entered Elite. Every big name promotion was bidding for him, including not so big promotions.
I will explain this one more time. The main event isn't always the best fight on the card. It is the reason people are watching. If you had Kimbo vs. Thompson in the 3rd fight of the night, do you think the ratings would be as good for the main event?
Like it or not, Kimbo is a larger than life star right now. Hell, ESPN has done a segment just on Kimbo. The guy has a big name in the sport already, has a great story, etc. They'd be stupid NOT to market him. The other thing is, he has all the potential in the world. He has world class trainers that have nothing but good things to say about him.
Thompson is training at Xtreme Couture's. If you are one of those who are complaining about not seeing Kimbo's ground game, get ready because if Thompson could take Brett Rogers down, he will be able to take Kimbo down.
Thompson isn't a joke. Look at the people who have knocked him out. He doesn't have a jaw of glass. The people who have KO'd James are extremely tough and extremely heavy handed guys. Neil Grove, Brett Rogers, Aleks, etc. are not jokes. They are fucking tough as hell.
In your 3rd fight, Thompson is really a terrible fight for anyone. The dude has a ton of experience, is tough as hell, has heavy hands and pretty decent take downs, not to mention now he's training with Randy N' Co. at Xtreme's so, he's just going to get better and better.
This is going to be a great fight and is definitely a step up in competition for Kimbo.
