Love in these street fight videos someone will get a choke or submission and the guy gives up. They stand up and the person who lost decides they still want to fight. Shows me to just break that arm or finish the choke.

man, it was twisted pretty far, i was waiting for it to snap
You have to break it. Otherwise the guy won't stop fighting. He's not going to suddenly be less mad at you now that you twisted his arm and embarrassed him by making him submit in front of his friends.

If I felt my life was in jeopardy, I would grab anything I could. But in today's day and age with lawsuits and the general attitude that any fighting is an assault charge, I would not want to grab a limb and break it if I could just choke the person out. All problems are solved if they are unconscious. Put them down and run away and there are likely no charges or lawsuits.
And you need to break it before some 'good samaritan' gets involved. That guy in the blue shirt didn't do the dude on the bottom any favors by pulling the lock apart..
Chokes work on guys too tough to tap. Plus not everyone respects a tap as it is evident here.
Choke them unconscious and then destroy all doubts of your dominance by shoving their car keys in their butt before disappearing into the shadows

This is stupid, this wasn't a "street fight". this was some fight over some beer between two hotheads.
Have any of you experienced the aftermath of an arm snapped at the shoulder? I have seen it firsthand and it wasn't pretty, the guy now has a permanent should problem for life. Destroyed the AC joint, part of the deltoid, and tendons/ligaments, etc.
This was a bro fight over beer, you can control someone by applying pain and asking him to stop. Damaging his shoulder because of some beer? This wasn't a life or death struggle. From there he could have told the guy in clear, uncertain terms that it is over, and that he better calm down.
It makes me sad that some instructor like Checkuroil advocates someone damaging a major joint, potentially for life, instead of other option over some silly aggro-beer argument.

The other side of that is you let them go, on your back on the street and they smash your head into the ground. Sorry but you sound naive. I'm not leaving my health and well being to a man who just tackled me in the street and tried to beat my face in.
His arm is injured? Good. It's not brain trauma or death. He has time to reflect on his life choices and maybe die a better man.

Sorry, you don't know my past. I was involved in quite a few violent encounters, all of which I am sorry for. Later on, I understood what control and a firm verbal agreement can do in these types of minor situations.
The person who made the video stated that he had already beaten up the guy in the house, and the guy was mad and charged him. Breaking the arm at the shoulder joint would have been overkill, and no decent person would do it to someone they have a mild acquaintance with.
Again, this was not a "street-fight" in the truest sense, it was literally two guys arguing over beer. This has always been the problem with BJJ, it teaches people to hurt others without imparting any sort of moral code that should go along with it.
I, in my younger days, was in many, many situations such as these. Almost too many to count. I am not proud of that fact. They are not serious altercations, and as soon as someone knows you can impart serious damage, and feel it, along with a stern verbal warning, they usually settle down 99% of time.
If you're fighting someone you know, choke them. Ripping their shoulder apart is too much.
If it's a true street fight and your life is in danger, then crank away.

I would say the guy coming after him a second time makes it worse. He already allowed him a chance to walk away and now the guy is set on doing him harm again? How will he do that aside from punching him in the head? With the guy being on the concrete the consequences for that are serious. Therefore popping the boys arm in self defense is completely fine, the fault lies with the attacker.
As far as your rambling about fights and moral code, you sound like an idiot. Who hasn't been in a lot of scraps as a kid? No one is impressed with you. Oh and yes decent people will break an arm to defend themselves, it's the whole reason we train. Go back to tai chi, ya nancy.

Look lad, I regrettably was in more fights and altercations in my younger days than numbers you can count to. I am not proud of it. A few were serious, but I never would when fighting acquaintances deliberately try to wreck someone's shoulder.
The fact is that you have NO IDEA of what happened prior to this "second" altercation. For all you know the BJJ could really be just a bully who looks for ways to use his BJJ. IF you don't believe in moral teachings while teaching BJJ or anything else that has direct potential to do harm, then you are just a complete idiot.
A "scrap" as a kid, is a lot different than two grown men fighting, and a lot different than wanting to possible maim your opponent for life for something as trivial as arguing over beer.
Again, you have no idea is this was truly self-defense or the BJJ was just also out looking to provoke. Neither of us simply do not have enough information. But with the information I do have presented to me, in the context described, this does not warrant damaging someone's shoulder joint.
As far as "the whole reason we train" argument. No, we SHOULD be training to defend ourselves in a lawful manner against real threats, not lawn fighting, hopefully you are old enough to be beyond that. Further, people train for a lot of reasons, sport, fitness, etc. Again, this is most likely not self-defense in its real sense, it is two guys who might be friends or acquaintances are probably semi-drunk getting into it.
People like you are the reason BJJ is filled with bully trash.
My car key schtick is still ok though right HotSteppa? That's kind of my thing.
One of the strangest parts about training BJJ is that I've never actually "completed" any of the moves. Never snapped an arm, twisted a leg until something popped, or even choked anyone completely to sleep so far. They always tap and I wouldn't crank anything on my training partners anyway. Finishing a kimura would be an intense feeling, lots of long-term damage for the bad guy.

Look little lady, no one cares about your silly fights, your past, or your regrets. Frankly you sound like every other guy who had hundreds of street fights, a retarded bullshitter.
The only facts relevant are this guy swung on the bjj kid once, the guy allowed it to go on. In return he's rewarded with another attack, being tackled on concrete. For that I would gladly break a joint. My job is to maintain my safety not the guy attacking me. It's real simple so even you should be able to grasp it. Now go back to aikido class, ya wank.
