King of the Ring 8: Press Release

King of the Ring 8

Press Release

On Saturday, March 6th, 2004, from 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM at the Surfside Inn Oceanfront in Virginia Beach, King of the Ring Productions will present "King of the Ring 8". KOTR features highly trained athletes (both local and national champions from all over the east coast, midwest and Canada) that are paired with an opponent of equal experience, skill and size, competing in a sport that combines boxing, wrestling and kickboxing. There will be several KOTR title fights, including one between two national women champions in Muay Thai Kickboxing (IKF and WKA) who will compete with each other to determine who will be the new KOTR Womens Muay Thai Kickboxing Champ in their weight division. The main event will feature local talent, Shawn Yarborough, IKF North American Light-Heavyweight Champion, who trains under Buck Grant at Hybrid Adademy, going head to head with Nick The Italian Stallion Rondinelli, WKA North American Light-Heavyweight Champion from Team Tompkins Gym in Ontario, Canada.

Sanctioning bodies for this event are the World Kickboxing Association for the Muay Thai bouts, and also the Dangerzone, under the direction of Dan Severn- former UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championships) Champion, for all MMA matches. Also in attendance will be Joe Silva, matchmaker for the fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championships.

Exciting demonstrations are scheduled prior to the matches and during intermission. We are expecting another enthusiastic, sell-out crowd to again fill the topside ballroom of the Surfside Inn (capacity 600) as they did for King of the Ring 4, 5, 6, and 7. Tickets are currently available in advance at the Va. Beach Academy of Martial Arts. General Admission: $20, Ringside Seats: $30 & $35.

For further information, please contact William or Elaine Varner at the Va. Beach Academy of Martial Arts, phone: (757) 486-6488, or by e-mail at varnerint@hotmail.com.

This looks to be a great show.

William Varner is a top knotch promoter and seems to be doing a great job building the sport to a new level.
