Klistchko chop block illegal ?

In his fight last night against Ibragimov, Klistchko was knocking down Sultan's jab with a chop block.

If I'm not mistaken, it is illegal to strike with any part of the glove except for the flat knuckle portion.

Why did they continue to allow it ?

he was blocking the glove, not striking

He was parrying the jab, but really, really, really overdoing it. It's within the rules.

I don't think so. But i don't know the official rule.

"he was blocking the glove, not striking "

So if you hit the hand/arm, it's not a strike ?

"So if you hit the hand/arm, it's not a strike ?"

Oh please Zip...don't try and be logical....there are guys on this forum (unfortunately they are part of Athletic Commissions) that will argue to the DEATH that hitting someone with your shoulder in the face during a football game is NOT a strike...

lol

he parrying the jab to extreme level. besides who cares calzaghe slaps people

When discussing bad behavior, it does not make it 'right', because you point out other bad behavior.

Imo both are illegal.

That move was like watching a point guard bring the ball up the court and do endless crossover dribbles...a setup for NOTHING.

I am stunned at how lame Wlad looked last night.

I think he held back because he was in no trouble. Boring for sure.

Dear Haulpoorreadingcomprehension -

No one said a tackle wasn't a strike...what was said (several different
ways) was that the intent of a tackle is different than the intent of MMA/
boxing strikes, DESPITE the fact that both COULD result in injury. You
couldn't get your dome around that fact and are STILL crying about it???

Give it a rest.

i wonder if tim sylvia could use the same strategy klitchko did to win fights

here watch this and forget about boring ass boxing.

IrishLew, why does it bother you so much that people enjoy watching boxing?

FUCKING LOL! Here we go again. I'm not going to give anything a rest you fucking douchebag. I am probably in the neighborhood of 10 orders your intellect buddy, okay? So your phony, political spin bullshit about me not understanding your fucking pitiful attempts at logic just doesn't cut it. Government is supposed to be involved for the sake of safety. The "intent" of a sport is MEANINGLESS because striking someone is still striking someone whether you are doing it to prevent points being scored or to score points. M'kay?

And besides I fucking shot down your little "intent" theory about mma be explaining how you can win an MMA fight WITHOUT EVER STRIKING OR HURTING YOUR OPPONENT (pure ring/cage control will win you an mma fight). So your "intent" argument (even if it wasn't completely bogus to begin with) doesn't even fucking apply.

Have a nice day.

and here's the whole thread in case anyone wants to read it:
