Knee Injury info needed

Recently (last week) hurt my MCL, no real swelling but hurts alot, can walk with it with a tight ACE bandage or knee brace. I have been doing the Ice,Heat, Elevation thing and keeping of it as much as possible. It feels better than last week but still hurts.
Any info on what the recuperation period is and how can you tell the extent of the injury without going to a doctor. From what I read it amounts to a sprain and doesn't need surgery. Any other Rehab ideas? Thanks.

how do you know it's your MCL? I hurt my knee recently, and what I've been told is that there is no substitute for an MRI.

Get it checked by a pro or at least a sports PT. No one will be able to answer these questions here.

The Dr. first for diagnosis then you can rehab.
