A serious knee injury has forced Ricco Rodriguez (44-11 MMA, 0-0 BFC) out of a scheduled Bellator 31 matchup with fellow heavyweight Dave "Pee Wee" Herman (16-2 MMA, 1-0 BFC).

MMAjunkie.com today confirmed the news with sources close to the Sept. 30 event, who said a search is underway for a replacement.

Rodriguez initially hoped to fight through the knee injury, but he's since learned multiple surgeries may be required.

Bellator 30 takes place at the L'Auberge du Lac Casino and Resort in Lake Charles, La. The night's main card airs on FOX Sports Net.
