That first throw was against Canto. Or should I have said, Can....to? SORRY! SORRY! Canto it is then.

Also, that shimewaza at 5:00 is the slickest choke ever.

Any opinions on Koga's mat skills? I had read that he basically said Yoshida's skills were pretty poor when Yoshida first came to PRIDE.

koga and yoshida were not famous for their ne-waza.

JJ girl,

His defense is good, and in international judo, he was rarely put in a bad position. He only seemed to really go for the lapel choke. His throwing skills were just too dominant, and he rarely seemed to be on the bottom.

Flavio Canto almost seemed to have an armbar on him in the Atlanta Olympics. Moments later, Canto was pounded to the mat with a standing, wrong arm, seio nage. While Koga exuded a "Don't you dare try to armbar me" attitude. Brutiful throw.

Brutiful = brutal + beauty

ashy, i haven't sene this match. if you post it, it'd be great.

btw, i've been watching 1995 judo worlds. This has got to be 1 of the best tournaments i've seen : yoshida, jeon, sonoda, koga and many others.

Re: 1995 Worlds,

There is a fighting films version, and a Japanese version. The Japanese version has odd commentary but is still pretty good. Long too!

The Koga v Canto match is on Fighting films 1996 Olympic tape. Canto really got schmucked. He was pretty young of course. Alot of that division's footage is focussed on Bouras though. My least-hated favourite player. Brazil's Fernandez -95, being a close second.

That being said, my least favourite judoka is still eminantly more watchable than my favourite tennis player.

I'll try to find the match.
