Koscheck to receive his Black Belt

LMAO @ you guys questioning this, like Koscheck is not an elite grappler or Dave is some mcdojo belt santa. Here's to hoping your initial bitchings all were just sarcasm

Congrats josh you deserve it cause you always fight hard and train hard TTT Phone Post

WTF?! Handing out Belts?!?! Dave is a BB from Ralph Gracie, one the absolute toughest instructors to get a BB from..He doesn't hand out shit easy Phone Post

I don't believe it. OP is playing you all like a riddle...

TheFlyingGentlemen - So why haven't I seen any bjj from him. I think some of these fighters get handed belts because of who they are and not because they earned it. <img src="/images/phone/droid.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

When you've got a windmill right like he does you don't need to go to the ground

Silhouette - as far as i know Guerrilla JJ is just his brand name for books, dvd, etc

and it is a mix of judo and BJJ which is what BJJ is anyway

it is a BJJ black belt

From the article stating Kos earned brown belt status.

In addition to being the head grappling coach at American Kickboxing Academy (AKA), Camirillo is the founder of Guerilla Jiu-Jitsu, a unique and innovative approach that combines Jiu-Jitsu with Judo.
Camarillo is a black belt under Ralph Gracie and used his experience in Judo to create the hybrid "Guerilla" system, which emphasizes the use of throws that segue directly into submissions on the ground. Phone Post

 I see what you did

Dave's blackbelts rape most blackbelts. Of course their are elite blacks that they are all compared to at worlds. He's been doing jiu jitsu what 8 yrs? Not so fast. Phone Post

Sounds like 10th Planet, or American Jiu-Jitsu... They all start with a BJJ black belt so every belt in those systems I consider legit and BJJ

:D

bro, he took a huge knee to the head lol

John Danaher has said that Dave Camarillo is one of the greatest grappling minds in the sport today.

If Dave thinks Kos is black belt level...Kos is black belt level.

End of story in my view.

 THIS!!!!!!

(and I HATE Kos.....but u gotta love the UG)

I've heard Josh actually has a very good guard. GSP couldn't do a while lot in it. Phone Post

OMA,

Do you think you could take Kos?

lol @ those bashing on Koscheck's skills. They would all be tapped in under a min rolling w him. Dave C does NOT just hand out belts and anyone insinuating that is a idiot of the highest order.

We have 4 Dave Camarillo blackbelts at my Academy, they're all killers. If Dave wants to put his BB on Kos then I'm sure he deserves it Phone Post

GayGuardMooseSaucy - Keep in mind it's a Guerilla Jiu-Jitsu black belt not BJJ. Phone Post

A black belt from Dave is a solid BJJ
Blackbelt. Phone Post

I trained at AKA from 2003 to 2009 under Dave. Ever since I can remember, Fitch, Kos, Swick, Thomson, and many others were in the regular Jiu Jitsu Gi class. Guess what? It wasn't uncommon for Kos to pull guard, I have had first hand experience. He's probably one of the few fighters that don't mind putting on the gi, or even have "pajama" experience. I honestly think he could hang with most black belts today. To descredit any time he's spent on the mat is just ridiculous.

Keep in mind, in a fight, most people want TOP position. Especially during a time where everyone thinks the guard in mma is dead, why would anyone pull guard in the UFC. I'm sure most people heard Dave talk about this in interviews. Stay on top.

I know Dave is well respected. I just know that's what his system is called, and it's a mix of Judo and BJJ. Phone Post
