Former UFC heavyweight Todd Duffee is making yet another MMA comeback when he returns to face fellow UFC export Philip de Fries as part of the KSW 79 fight card, recently made official for Sat., Feb. 25, 2023 at Home Credit Arena in Liberec, Czechia.

Duffee (9-3, 1 NC) made the announcement on Wednesday during The MMA Hour.

Their heavyweight title fight will serve as a rematch from their UFC 155 showdown back in late 2012, where Duffee emerged victorious by way of first-round technical knockout. Th
“Who else are you going to call besides an American to come save the heavyweight division for KSW?” Duffee said.

The 36 year-old De Fries (22-6, 1 NC) would struggle to stay in the win column over the next several years but eventually found his footing in late 2017 and has since racked up 10 straight wins with seven violent finishes, including last September’s submission stoppage over Ricardo Prasel in Poland.

Duffee, now 37, has not competed since late 2019.e Indianan would only compete three more times over the next decade, putting together a 1-1 record with one “No Contest.”

Well, we might see the better version of Duffee, now that he’s not gonna be drug tested.

Wow I forgot all about Duffee. He has to be up there for most injury prone fighter.

He took his first fight 16 years ago and only has 13 fights total. Insane.

Random title shot here for Phil. His run as KSW HW champion has been fun.

De Fries will get his chance at revenge in the main event of KSW 79 at the Home Credit Arena in Liberec, Czech Republic.

‘S-11’ saw his own UFC career come to an end in 2013, following a nineteen second loss to Matt Mitrione at UFC on Fuel TV: Mousasi vs. Latifi. After trading wins and losses on the regionals for the next several years, the Sunderland native seems to have hit his stride. He’s currently riding a 10-fight unbeaten streak, having captured the KSW heavyweight title in 2018. If De Fries can defeat Duffee, it will make his 8th consecutive successful defense of the championship crown.

KSW 79 takes place on February 25th. Alongside the main event, the promotion has also announced a bout between two other fellow former UFC heavyweights—with Viktor Pesta set to take on Daniel Omielanczuk. Stay tuned to Bloody Elbow for more news and notes.

He was winning the fight with Hughes too, but it seemed obvious that he was slowing and the momentum was shifting. I would bet almost anything that he made the right call and took the easy way out, because he was gonna lose that fight.

KSW title fight? Wtf. Taking legitimacy out of the promotion.

I liked Duffee but these are his last 3 fights. Last win was in 2014. Last fight in 2019.

Well I don’t give a fuck if Pudzianowski now wanted to retire at 46 after the Khalidov fight. If Duffee is around then Pudz should make that his retirement fight.

KSW Presents…Pudz vs Duffee: 10 YEARS TOO LATE BUT FUCK IT, IT’S BETTER THAN ANOTHER KONGO FIGHT.

That should be the poster.
